South Carolina Governor: Haley (R) 51%, Sheheen (D) 36%

The survey of 750 Likely Voters in South Carolina was conducted on August 25-26, 2014 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC.

If Shaheen would come out against "right-to-work" laws, that would tighten things up quite a bit.

Uh, no things wouldn't "tighten up".

Even if this is Rasmussen, this confirms my suspicion that Haley will do better than she did in 2010. Likely R.

I've been saying all along that Haley was likely to do better than in 2010 with this rematch.  The economy is doing better and there are no scandals of note out there. It looks like at this point Ervin is primarily winning votes from Democrats hoping he could beat Haley, but I don't see that lasting until November.

How do you figure? South Carolina is quite a conservative state, and its right-to-work law has attracted manufacturers to the state. It sounds to me like coming out against right-to-work would worsen Shaheen's chances, not make them better.

LOLno.  Most South Carolinians were mad at the feds for blocking the Boeing transfer because of the state's RTW status.

They like RTW laws.
