if as a result of the fall-out from his second divorce, Sen. Russ Feingold drops out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, whom would you support in his stead?

i personally would go, reluctantly, for Evan Bayh.  his reputation as a populist from the Midwest with cross-party appeal and a real chance to win not just the general election but also the Democratic nominatioin against Hillary Clinton, as well as his experience as governor of Indiana prior to his becoming senator are strong selling points that would leave me hard-pressed not to back him for the Democratic nomination -especially given Russ Feingold's absence.

Looking at that list, and assuming that Schweitzer, Obama, Boxer, and Spitzer also aren't going to run, I pick these as my top choices.
1. Warner
2. Bayh
3. H. Clinton

Given your choices, I voted for Evan Bayh.

However, A LOT can happen in three years time.

Yes, if Al Gore changes his mind before 2007 and decides to run, I'll support him. If he doesn't, Mark Warner, followed by Hillary Clinton in a close second.

I'm sorry to interrupt, but I have to bring something up.  As of this point no one is in the race.  Therefore no one can drop out.  Better would be to say "if he declines to enter the race for President."

Dean or Kucinich.

Mark Warner for me. i think Virginia is a state that we should start focusing on to make ground. could win it in 2012.

I was absolutely stunned by how much Kerry beat Bush in Fairfax County. we need to campaign hard in places like Virginia Beach

I'm still a strong Kerry supporter, and I'd like to see Feingold/Kerry in 2008.

Yeah, we still have three years to go before the primaries.  Everybody makes it sound like the race is already being fought.
