Does anyone know how exit polls will be handled this year?

Will every state with at least a major race like Governor (California) or Senator (North Carolina) have one or only states with both (Illinois)?

Will any states be dropped like what happened in 2012?

So far, I have confirmed Texas, Florida. I've contacted the head of Edison Research and will see if I get a response on the exact states.

I imagine almost every state with a Governor or U.S. Senate race will have one. There'll also be a National U.S. House Exit Poll, which is where we'll get Obama's approval numbers and such from.

Thanks. And, yeah, that wording in bold makes it sound like some states will be skipped. Guess we'll find out soon.

I got an idea: to check NBC's election site just now to see if they had any information or indicators. Sure enough, they already have their results by state pages up, and have select states listed with an "exit poll" header at the bottom of the page, while others do not have this. This tells us which states will have exit polling.

We'll have exit polling in 27 states:

Alaska
Arkansas
California
Colorado
Florida
Georgia
Illinois
Iowa
Kansas
Kentucky
Louisiana
Maine
Michigan
Minnesota
Mississippi
New Hampshire
New York
North Carolina
Ohio
Oregon
Pennsylvania
South Carolina
South Dakota
Texas
Virginia
West Virginia
Wisconsin

No Massachusetts or Connecticut exit polls? Ugh. And yet they are doing Mississippi. Perfect.

Unfortunately, no exit polls for Massachusetts, Arizona, Hawaii, or Connecticut. But every other Senate/Gubernatorial race that I don't have rated as Safe or Strong Lean (Likely) is thankfully included.

Arizona, New Mexico, and Maryland would have been interesting too. You'd figure the least we could get is exit polling in every state if election spending is reaching $4-6 billion every two years.

And every state gets the generic ballot/Obama Approval etc. questions, so why not just ask about the horseraces as well? But whatever.

I wouldn't mind seeing a New Jersey one either. They definitely left out a few weird ones.

Yeah, leaving out CT and MA are major flops.

And they are doing MS, SC and CA instead ...

Looks good (a lot better than 2012, when they completely ignored all red states). I'll be looking forward to Florida and Texas, that's for sure.

Better to ignore red states than to ignore states with competitive races...

Yeah, except demographically important states like Georgia, Texas, and South Carolina were ignored. Not to mention most noncompetitive blue states were polled (MA, IL, CT, VT, NY, NJ, IL, CA, and WA were all polled despite non-competitiveness.

MA had a competitive senate race....

Why? The only thing interesting there is the third district.

So they're doing a exit poll in South Carolina, but not Massachusetts? Junk choices!

LOL!

Well, apparently they weren't handled well. I still don't understand why they were so flawed.
