Color me not shocked. It's not smart to run the Brooklyn Democrat up against the Staten Island Republican when the seat is mainly in Staten Island for starters.

Grimm may not be up 19, but he should be leading this race.

In 2010, Grimm won what was then NY-13 by 3 while Cuomo won the Staten Island portion of the district by 17.  Split-ticket voting is perfectly possible.

I saw clips of their debates, not only is Recchia a moron, but Grimm is pretty polished. If he weren't so corrupt, he'd probably be a good candidate for statewide office.
