Governor Sawx has nominated Talleyrand  as the next Northeast Chief Judicial Officer.  This appointment needs to be confirmed by the Assembly.  This will serve as the independent hearing thread for the nominee, as required by the SOAP.

Debate on the nomination and questioning of the nominee will extend for at least 72 hours, or until around 6:31 PM on Wednesday, November 5, unless shortened or extended by a motion of a Representative.

I will pm the nominee to ask if he wishes to make an opening statement.  Otherwise, questioning of Talleyrand could commence immediately.

Hello.

There are two main duties to this position.

1) To administer court cases. I've lived in the Northeast Region for a year now, and served as Representative, Lieutenant Governor, Speaker, and Governor. During my tenure, I've been involved in the passage and drafting of over forty bills, so I have extensive exposure to the law and the activity to oversee any legal disputes that may reach the Northeast court.

2) To administer elections. I've been Deputy Secretary of Federal Elections twice, and have administered both federal and regional elections several times before. I understand how both PR-STV and IRV work, so I can easily certify results too. I think this duty would be fairly easy for me to do.

I think I'd be competent enough to be CJO.

Talleyrand has been an excellent official, knows his stuff when it comes to elections (from the Northeast to the federal level), and I'm fully confident that he will be a great replacement for Barnes.

Having been able to work with Talleyrand over the past 4 months, I can say with confidence he'll be a competant CJO.

I have every confidence in Talleyrand, and see no need to delay the confirmation.  I move to shorten the debate period to 36 hours.

The debate and question period is now over.  It is time to vote on whether to confirm the nominee as CJO.

This vote will remain open for 48 hours, or until all representatives have voted

The voting period is now over. By a vote of 5-0, Talleyrand  is confirmed as CJO.
