He and I was and are still on the same page with respect to foreign policy of USA and UK.  I have very fond memories of his attacks on the Blair policy on Iraq so I rate him highly just like I rate Rand Paul very high as well even though he and I for sure are on opposite sides of the spectrum for economic policy.  Also he comes out to political opposites like Nigel Farage against say SNP makes me admire him for his consistency of principle at least on certain matters.
