BTW, I am sure you have noticed- I spent many years in hedonistic pursuits of drinking, going to strip clubs, hitting on the ladies etc. but as I have gotten older I have found these to be empty pursuits and unfulfilling.  I have re-connected to my Catholic faith and am focusing on helping my community and becoming a better person.  That is what works for me right now.

You should talk to MarkDel.  That's basically his story.

Um, he once called me a prude because I said I didn't believe kids under 18 should have sex.

I don't think they're worried about physical, but spiritual risks.  I used to look at lots of porn, and it lessened my ability to find actual women attractive.  Too much asturbation is dangerous to your ability to have real human interaction.

(DING DING DING DING DING)

That is correct.  I did say that earlier, but I don't think anyone noticed.

I just came to the realization that I didn't really have anything of permanance in my life or much to show for my behavior- all I had were multiple hangovers and a few funny stories.  Hedonism is fleeting.

I'm sure opebo disagrees (not that I want to be like him of course). I just hope I don't end up thinking this way either in 6 years, just stay where I am now, between the two extremes.

Wanting to be a better person and help your community is extreme.  Well ok then.  At least I am as far away from Opebo's viewpoint as possible.  BTW, I don't think nor does the church preach that you are going to hell for masturbation--It is just that God expects more from us and we should be in a loving relationship.

Enjoy yourself and have fun but I hope for your sake that you seek more from life than strip clubs and communist guerilla fantasies.  People like Opebo have nothing to show for their lives except decades of taking and exploiting.  You are not like that and I hope Opebo can change.

no, what I think is extreme is thinking masturbation and using condoms is wrong. Everyone wants to be a better person, it's just that their opinion of what that is varies, and I want to help my community, that's why I support socialism.

And opebo could change considering he went from being an anarcho-capitalist to what he is now. I most certainly wouldn't want to be like him, but I can't deny he's having fun. I just like to think I'm above that. But I'm not above strip clubs, cheap sex and masturbation, that's for sure.

I was just giving my opinion and the Church's teaching on the matter.  If I said you were wrong (I don't think I said that) then I retract that statement.  You make your own decisions in life.

Just remember that lots of people having "fun" are profoundly unhappy people who are masking their pain.

haha.

A moderate liberal that won't totally destroy the Church but will realise that people will take Papal decrees as gospel (pardon the pun) and that therefore there's more at stake than divine purity.

In other words knowledge is dangerous to  your ability to settle.  Ignorance is bliss.  No thanks though - I'll persue the ideal of the hot nympho deep-throater three-holer and you can have your third rate 'human interaction'.

What garbage!  Of course you don't have 'anything of permanence in your life' - because you are going to die.  Not only hedonism is fleeting, everything is fleeting, most to the point you are fleeting.  However, it is your own business what nonsense you believe - just be aware from the outside it looks like pathetic self-deception.

Right I am pathetic. I will not be the one who dies a lonely, desicated old man.  I have a family who loves me and a multitude of friends.  What do you have in your paradise?  People you have to pay for the pleasure of their company?  I don't need to pay my friends and companions.  You are a pathetic wretch who from your posts appears has never done anything kind for anyone- including yourself.  So keep wasting your years and youth until you wind up lonely, alone and dead.

Well, we'll both wind up desicated, old, and dead.  The lonely part is pretty hard to predict.  I say he who has an inheritance to leave will never die alone!

I won't fear death and you will.  Further, just because there are people around you it doesn't mean you are not alone.  I guess selfishness and greed runs in your family.

Hell yes it does.  We're a normal middle american family.

But what do you mean 'fear' death?  Why would one fear it?   I resent not being able to continue, but fear has nothing to do with it.  I think the main reason for you religious' obvious and weak psychological self deception is as much an inability to live without 'meaning' as a fear of death.  Though both are part of your ailment.

It is really not worth my time to even talk to you because I think you are the most contemptuous type of pustule to corrupt this earth. Selfish, indolent and cruel, you self admittedly live a purposeless and meaningless existence.   You are an unloved failure and take your frustrations out on others.  Have a good life you degenerate.

This is my point exactly.  You've made my case for me, with the attitude you have.  Sexual deviants cannot understand happiness.
