many people thought Chamberlain's agreement to give Hitler the sudetenland only emboldened him. Or is the colloquialism that there is more than one way to skin a cat true in this case and that he would have found some other way to get what he wanted?

It is not enough to say this once. UK and France would have to be stern continuously. But, sure, there were many moments when Hitler could have been stopped. If the French stepped in when the Germans reoccupied Rhineland... If Germany were told that rearmament would mean invasion (or, at least, an economic blockade)... If Austria were defended... If Czechoslovakia were defended... If the declaration of war were immediately followed by a massive attack from the West (surely, Hitler had given enough warning to get ready for that one)...

I think yes. The Munich Agreement was just 11 months before the beginning of WWII. There's a good chance not a whole lot would have changed.

We have to remember that Hitler's goal in Munich was to neutralize Czechoslovakia, with it's powerful fortifications in the Sudetenland and quite a formidable army. If, under this scenario, the war still happens, Hitler would be in very difficult position, encircled by the French, British, Czechoslovaks and, likely, Poles. And without allies (I don't see Mussolini getting involved in the European war in 1938). Also, the USSR was preoccupied by their troubles with the Japanese in the Far East, which is ruling out involvement in the crisis.

In order to advance with his plans, Hitler needed to neutralize Czechoslovakia, so had Chamberlain and Daladier took a firm line, I have no doubts the history would have altered dramatically.

There was also a plan in place by a group of Generals (General Halder I think) to launch a coup detat if Hitler were to order an attack on Czechoslovakia.

If war  had broken out in 1938, it would have ended alot better for the Allies. Germany would be a lot weaker without being able to loot and pillage the Czech treasury and world class armaments and would have a considerably weaker armed forces.
