Ask this question like this

Would you support a Single Payer system knowing your taxes would have to double .

Asking it without that caveat is idiotic

Ask this question like this

Would you support GOP tax cuts knowing 99% of the benefits would go to the wealthy and the budget deficit would have to double .

I’ve a feeling the only reason you said this was because you don’t like the results of this poll. It shouldn’t be a surprise that many Republicans are out of touch with a good portion of GOP voters, especially on certain economic issues.

It’s almost like Republicans care more about black people kneeling and Confederate traitor statues than they do about Ayn Randianism.

And this is why a thrice married NYC former democrat billionaire won the nomination with 46% despite it being supposedly one of the strongest GOP fields ever.

He simultaneously gave into their cultural anguish while cozying up to their economic views. He wasn’t some slick talking uber Christian war hawk talking down to the peasantry about needing to reform entitlements. He was a bombastic self-worshiping d*ckhead who appealed to secular nationalist sentiments - both cultural and economic alike.

Ducey seems to have gotten a big bump from appointing McCain’s replacement. It’s extremely annoying given that all he did was appoint a partisan hack but voters aren’t exactly famous for their intellect.

"Swing voters" generally don’t base their vote on issues, or anything of actual substance, for that matter.

Both posts qualify.

That’s what democrats would do if they were smart. Nominate a populist governor in touch with the working class.

But they’ll nominate Harris, the coastal elitist. Because why not.

It is tied (so far) in a poll with Rossi having 84% name recognition and Schrier having 59% name recognition, and in which Trump has only slightly negative approvals (which seems unlikely for this district). Realistically that looks rather more like tilt/lean D than tilt/lean R.

Doesn't Washington polling often times overstate things for Republicans?

Yes, in fact polls overestimated Rossi in both 2008 and 2010. So, Bagel, you could, you know, actually listen to what residents of Washington have to say about this race, instead of believing in your narrative. It might do wonders for your happiness.

The metoo movement is mostly about privileged, powerful, wealthy women getting in on the ‘I’m a victim too!  Me too!’ Bandwagon.

The ordinary women who are victims of rape are not “omg me too ##”... their stories are all uniquely terrifying, traumatic, and largely ignored.

He's so much more aggressive than anyone else.

Sounds like Manchin is on board:

This is what you get when you have party with no principles and leadership that avoids leading. There is no bigger scourge than the concept of a "big tent party"

Looks like we'll have to see in a few days whether Manchin and the other 3 """moderate""" """"heroes""" decide to finally grow the tiniest bit of a spine and perform the difficult task of voting against a gang-raping sexual predator.

I cannot believe the way liberals take something, and spin it to the most extreme level possible.

A woman makes an uncorroborated claim against a guy when he was a minor 36 years ago, and that becomes "A rapist is being put on the Supreme Court".

You wanna talk about "hyperbole". Good grief.

I can't believe you are still quoting and talking about how you didn't even know what "hyperbole" was. It's a completely normal word that is regularly used in every day life, as people engage in hyperbole all the time.

Everyone in these threads always conflates Bad Polling with a bad campaign. However, the two are not equal, one can run a superb campaign but still lose by 30 points. Similarly, one can run a sh**tter of a campaign and still end up across the finish line.

"Identity Politics" is a word used by conservatives and reactionary people to denigrate and delegitimize causes and issues that are not about them. Even though most "identity politics issues" affect EVERYONE, white men and conservatives don't wanna hear it if it's framed around black trans people or disabled people, since y'all seem to think it cheapens the issue, since, well, y'all are reactionary.

For god's sake, what is the forums obsession with West Virginia? Why aren't they any where near the same number of topics about what Republicans need to do to win back Vermont? Expending great effort to completely change the partys ideology and abandon many of its core planks to appease a small electorally insignificant state which will probably continue to hate it anyway would be utterly braindead

Better question - why is Atlas so obsessed with a state that went R+44 in the last presidential election?

Because it needs to flip at all costs. It's worth it.
