Speaking as a grad student, there are way too many grad students in this country. That said, ensuring only the rich can become a grad student is not the way to go.

The right-wing has always been about ensuring the protection and preservation of privilege, even at the expense of merit. America's entire educational system, but especially its higher education system, is systematically structured to favor persons with privileged backgrounds. The government's attempts at leveling this field will be seriously harmed by these Republican policies and I don't think that's unintentional.

Won't some feminists shield that woman from facing charges/resignation?

There could be some.
Just like there are some men who try to "shield" other men when a wrong is committed.

It's important that gays are accepted and that they accept themselves.  Internalized homophobia leads to very bad things, as we see time and again.

Hurt people hurt people.  Sad  And the cycle continues.

Agreed. Such bizarre and deviant behavior isn't common among the entirety of the LGBTQ community, but it tends to manifest itself to a disproportionate degree among those who've suppressed their real identity. Nothing good comes from staying "in the closet" and/or refusing to accept who you are. And none of that would even arise if it wasn't for society's rampant homophobia and transphobia that shames people for being who they are - which is nothing more than a human being just like everyone else.

Both of them.

Literal “Balkanization” presumably came from some sort of actual ethnic identity. I shudder to contemplate why anyone should promote the strengthening of political barriers through actual borders. Government exists to let man live in common. If any disunion is to occur in an actual democracy, it ought to be mutual.

Even Mr. Rogers probably made some mistakes. We're men - our entire lives are trying not to let the little head win the battle over the big head.

New Mason-Dixon poll

Trump approval: 51/42 (+9)
Haslam approval: 57/30 (+27)
Alexander approval: 44/42 (+2)
Corker approval: 40/48 (-8)

Democrats are so stupid. They love everyone who says something even remotely anti-Trump, even when they vote with Trump over 90% of the time lol. I guess Republicans are the same way because all Corker has done is criticized Trump a few times.

Yup Democrats can be just as retarded as Repiblicans, as evidenced by these doofuses praising Corker even though he does nothing except b!tch on Twitter.

We're retarded in a different way though. Our mental deficiencies manifest in a more positive manner in wanting to acknowledge the better half of others. Republican retardation has manifested in supporting narcissistic demagogues, white ethnonationalists, and pedophiles.

Dude... he's mentally sick. Very sick.

Well 90% of Republicans probably agree with him, so it can't be just mental sickness/retardation, unless that's the case for the 90% as well.

Stupidity is contagious.

DYNAMIC SCORE RELEASED: Even assuming large amounts of economic growth, bill still raises deficit by $1,006,700,000,000.  https://www.jct.gov/publications.html?func=download&id=5045&chk=5045&no_html=1

That can easily be made up in cuts in wasteful defense spending.

It would be more realistic to hope for the Tooth Fairy to make up the shortfall.

Y'all need to learn that immigrants are people with thoughts and feelings, hopes and dreams, and not just these "illegals"pretty much a slur at this point. that don't get to be here because of some thoughtless rationalization about nation-states or whatever.

I mean, Republicans need to find SOMETHING to get their voters to the polls. They can't run on issues, so they run on things elected officials have no control over like black people kneeling and jury decisions.

Referring to someone as a "Cow in heels who looks like she gets hit by a bus every morning" or "wharthog with makeup who shamelessly lies, spreads rumors, and gaslights  an entire nation on national Television for her boss" is still sexist, whether you are too blind to see it or not. Defending those sorts of statements and claiming they are not sexist is equally disgusting.

So you can reject whatever you want, but it doesn't change the truth.

Maybe this is old news now with the new allegations against two more members of Congress, but I think this is important for the record.

From the A.P, what I said earlier clearly seems to be correct.  The only evidence that Barton was a victim of revenge porn is that Barton himself made that claim "Barton suggested he could be the victim of online exploitation."

However, there is clearly more to this story: "About a week later (after the initial claims and counter claims) tea party organizer Kelly Canon came forward with Facebook Messenger exchanges from 2012 when Barton asked is she was wearing panties and made other sexual references."

The thing with me here is that apparently Barton sent nude pictures of himself to something like six women in a year, and I simply find it more believable that Barton sent at least some of those pictures unsolicited rather than that he had consensual relations with that many women in a single year.

Of course, it's possible that both could be true.  That the women he sent his nudes to who subsequently released them was in a consensual relationship with him while some of the others were unsolicited, but, if that is the case, he is not merely just a victim.

Of course it's not up for me to tell people how to address this issue, but if it is brought up further, I would appreciate it if Barton was referred to as an 'alleged victim of revenge porn.'

I doubt a guy who claimed that Hillary and Obama are both literal Demons and said Bernie supporters should have their jaws broken would do particularly well in a Democratic primary.

He'd probably win West Virginia and put up decent showings in Arkansas, Kentucky, and Oklahoma.

I've always found it hilarious that around 15-20% of self-identified Democrats in KY and OK will not vote Democratic even in local races where the candidate is pro-gun, pro-life, anti-gay, ect. I understand millions of southern conservatives are still registered as Democrats, but why identify as one if you would never consider voting for the party in any circumstance whatsoever?

Because they're too lazy and/or stupid to switch parties. Luckily, progress is being made there. As the lovely RINO Tom has recently informed me, Oklahoma now FINALLY has more Republicans than Democrats. Smiley Hopefully soon they'll all go the way of Kim Davis.

This is actually true. They're Reagan Democrats who briefly came back to support Clinton in the 90s and a few Dem Governors, but then went straight Republican once Obama was elected. They're old as Hell and mean, too lol I worked on a couple of Dem campaigns here in the state during the Obama years and when calling registered Dems, we'd often call these old people who voted Republican but were too lazy and stubborn to change their registration and they'd curse us out and complain about a Muslim in the White House.

If so, you need to go back to comedy school.

I will as soon as Roy Moore stops going to high schools.

First instinct said yes, but I think really no. When in history has Alabama ever done the right thing? It is and has been the most racist, reactionary, bigoted, conservative state in the nation. I refuse to put my trust in people like that. I'm hesitant to say anything further.

We can only post about how depressing it is that Alabama is about to elect a pedophile so often, and we have all seen 100 variations of TN Vol's 40-years-of-the-exact-same-trends maps over and over, so I think people are just bored. Smiley
