Since the previous thread just hit 50 pages and is over one and half years old, let's get a new one going!

Ah, I had no idea 2000 posts was an official limit. I thought 50 pages was a nice cutoff. What does everyone else think?

What an honor! Thank you, Antonio.

I think most of the forum agrees that you are the master of this discipline. Wink And, to properly inaugurate the thread, here's your latest contribution!

FF. It's sad his state is too partisan to give him a statewide post.

Yeah, those mean Washingtonians, refusing to elect a guy whose views they disagree with to placate a random "independent" in Minnesota. Roll Eyes

Sanchez reminds me of that wonderful old line about Rand's works: There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

It's a little unnerving how effective the Kremlin's propaganda has been in swaying the opinions of impressionable young Americans.

Been staying out of this (only so many times you can call liars out on their lies), but I finally have to say something:

lol demonising introvert young people is so funny lol!!!

Speaking in my official capacity as someone who is painfully introverted in real life (seriously you have no idea), but still manages to somehow avoid these sorts of bitter delusions: you're full of sh*t.

Yes, eventually, as well as it can work anywhere. The idea that there are Certain Cultures where folks Just Can't Rule Themselves, as something that renders democracy somehow permanently unworkable always and forever rather than just making it difficult to get off the ground, strikes me as inherently racist.

Atlas has rules against socks for a number of reasons. It does legitimate discourse no favors to have someone create fake posters simply for the narcissistic purpose of arguing and scoring points. It shows a complete lack of respect for the limited number of actual rules we have around here. And it hampers the integrity of that silly little Atlas government simulation that so many of you seem to like.

A lot of you seem to think that the rules shouldn't apply if a poster is a friend of yours or appears to be a "nice guy." That's not how this site -- or the real world -- works.

What kind of idiot wants to live in a 'high crime' area? Literally no one (aside from maybe some middle or upper class dipsh#ts who think it's 'exciting') who has to live in a high crime area wants to do so. They have to, more often than not, because they can't afford to live anywhere else.

I'm glad you put this post in the Reservoir, because its grammar is far too atrocious to belong in the Gallery. Tongue Sorry about that.

I've said a few times now that regardless of what one thinks about the way Mormons tend to get involved in politics--in terms of policy, in terms of strategy, whatever--the fact that they do have a strong tradition of dynamic, on-the-ground political involvement, and in most cases seem sincere and idealistic about it, is itself worthy of admiration. The same is true of black churches.

Robespierre was basically an Atlas poster, albeit one who ended up with the authority to order the execution of his political opponents.
