Which city would you move it to?

I think Kansas City would be a nice fit that would be nearer the center of population in the country.

I'm not advocating this...but say we were establishing the capital today... Where is best?  Is centrality an issue or should economic might play a role?

I'm a believer in giving all people equal access to the capital... And keeping it away from Wall Street.  History doesn't play into it much.  I don't care where the founding fathers wanted it.
The more I think about it, the more a place like St. Louis, KC, or Denver makes sense.

What would happen to D.C. if we moved the capital to another city? Would it just become part of Maryland or Virginia? Considering the whole point of it was to host the capital.
That's why this is purely hypothetical.  It would be devastating for the entire region if we were to actually move the capital.
