I can see undecideds going for the ALP, they've had a good campaign.

The big "correction" everyone was talking about turned out to be a 2PP not too different from 2009. Wonder how Anna Bligh's feeling tonight.

Yeah, it still isn't sinking in for me.

I remember when I first started following Australian politics, the first election I watched unfold was Queensland 2012, and I've based a lot of my outlook off of that.

Even if the LNP takes a minority government, this is just incredible. For once, I am glad to have egg on my face.

If Annastacia forms government, she will be the first female state premier to win from opposition, while Anna Bligh became the first female state premier to win from government back in 2009. Good for Queensland. Tongue

The big "correction" everyone was talking about turned out to be a 2PP not too different from 2009. Wonder how Anna Bligh's feeling tonight.

Yes, I imagine Anna Bligh will feel vindicated.

Never has such a squeaker of a result felt like such a landslide.

This is almost worth for Abbott than losing NSW and QLD were for Gillard. For Gillard, the ALP were never gonna win. SA, Vic and QLD were all entirely winnable for the Coalition.

Wait, the Tony Abbot party didn't have 73 seats in the last election?

They won 78 seats to Labor's 7 in the last election, with 63% of the TPP. Now it looks like Labor will be back in power with 44/43 seats to the LNP's 42 and 52% of the TPP. It was an incredible reversal, yes.

Wait, the LNP got 52% of the TPP?

This is too good to not post
Former Queensland treasurer Keith De Lacy says the Labor Party did not expect to win Saturday's election and may not be ready to govern the state.

"I remember, a long time ago now, the best part of 30 years, going into the treasurer's office, you know, the big mahogany desks and red leather armchairs and just shaking my head and saying 'what the hell am I doing here?'"

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-02-03/queensland-election-labor-not-ready-to-govern-former-treasurer/6066594

That happens with any political surge though. Not necessarily a bad thing. A whole group of unknowns get elected who were only picked because, on paper, their seat was a no hoper.

Labour UK 1945, NDP 2011 to make just two that come to mind straight away.

However, as I mentioned before, the revelation that the PUP candidate was a bankrupt will most likely produce a by-election in Ferny Grove.

Wait, that's a rule?
