Manchin probably won't be Blanched. If he does lose, which is very possible, it won't be by a significant margin - I think it'll be closer to Mark Begich margins. Just as long as he doesn't run an idiot Mark Pryor campaign.

Agreed. I doubt he'll get Blanched, but I could very well see him losing, which would've been unthinkable 2 years ago.

Either way he seems like he's out of the Senate, one way or another, by 2018.
I think he'd probably win reelection easily.  He's more sympathetic to coal than most Democrats, and he's positioned himself as a more moderate to conservative Democrat who works across the aisle.

Manchin knows that eventually the blue tide will come for him too, just like it did for Landrieu and Pryor. I'd be surprised if he ran for Senate again given how much he hates it. Paging SOS: who would Manchin appoint?

Natalie Tennant should be the choice.  I love that gal. She could have beaten another G O Per besides SMC.

No she wouldn't. She was a terrible candidate and she would probably lose to any other Republican.

Granted, Capito won by a bloated margin, but yes, Tennant was D.O.A., and she'll probably lose big if appointed.
