America has had only a handful of dynasties (Adams, Harrison, Roosevelt, Bush) ascend to the Presidency, though more have tried with less success. Offhand the failures that seem closest to success include Clinton (narrowly lost nomination in 2008), Kennedy (narrowly lost nomination in 1980), and Taft (narrowly lost nomination in 1952). Wilson-McAdoo, Dole, and Brown also technically qualify, although their respective failures never came as close to succeeding as the aformentioned three. Are there any other candidates that came reasonably close to getting elected President after a close relative achieved the same feat?
I think we may see the establishment of both the Clinton and the Kennedy Dynasties before 2032.
