Looks like September saw a bit of a slowdown in posting on the forum, and, with just a day and a half left in the month, we're not going to reach 40,000 posts for September, meaning the streak of 40,000+ months ends at four.  But we're still markedly ahead of the pace from the same month four years ago, so Trump continues to be good for business here.

And speaking of 40,000 posts, I think Grumps is, at his current pace, less than 10 days away from reaching that milestone on his own account.  He's still on pace to crack the top ten posters here before the end of 2018, since Eraserhead hasn't posted since April and will start sinking in the rankings if he doesn't come back soon.

To be fair, September has one less day than August, and with the average post per day almost always >1100, if we had that extra day this month as well, we'd crack 40,000.

In that sense, this month is only marginally less than August, with a consolation prize that it will probably end with around 30 more user registrations.

Looking at the stats, I'm curious now at what point does Trump's effect on user activity here wear off? 2017 has been more active than any year prior except 2016, and in most cases substantially more active. It should figure then that 2020 would probably be a pretty banner year for Atlas, activity-wise.

Trump is a genius at generating news that creates a strong reaction. So as long as he is able to do that (i.e. given that he will never change, as long as he is in office), the post count should remain up.

Looks we are ending the night with over 3,100 posts. That's the most since the 2016 election, and basically the equivalent of over two high activity days in one.

November's going to end up as the most active month since May.  Trump continues to be good for business here.

Also, Grumps is on the cusp of catching up to Lief for 11th place in the standings, but he hasn't posted anything since Black Friday, so he remains frozen at 12th.

Btw, in addition to last month being very active in terms of post count, it was also very active in terms of new registrations.  Second highest number of new registrations in the past four years (with the highest having been November 2016, for obvious reasons).  It even beat the month when Atheist2006 created 40 sock accounts in order to have them all vote in the "opinion of Atheist2006" thread:

We hit 2,000 posts yesterday (or rather a few hours ago I guess!) for no real reason at all. Nothing too important happened yesterday, at least in terms of what would cause a spike in activity here. In fact every day since Dec 1st has been a super high activity day, with like 1600 - 1800 posts, even on weekends, which is pretty rare.

What are you doing Atlas?!??

Btw, anyone know what happened to Grumps?  He was posting at a very high rate in November, but then disappeared on Thanksgiving weekend and hasn't been back since.  If he doesn't come back, then Eraserhead's position in the top 10 is probably safe until 2019.  Jfern will soon bump Eraserhead down to 10th place, but then no one's really in a position to knock him lower than that within the next year except for Grumps.
