At the non-cabinet level, he could be made Ambassador to France so as to gain proximity to his hero, or even Germany, to be with his people. At the cabinet level, we likely don't converge on much, but State might be interesting for him to try his hand at. That said, such would be risky, so we'll start him off with something low-visibility in order to gain credentials within the administration. Perhaps HUD, a sort of Nixon to George Romney strategy.

Veterans’ Affairs. Can only go up from here and not a very public roll. Plus, I’ll need a few token Republicans to appease conservatives.

State or Defense. Obviously I'd need to combine him with a realist or paleocon at National Security to get a real Team o' Rivals dynamic, but we could make magic.

If I had to define my RI philospohy, it'd be a constructivist with some realist and institutional liberal tedencies, so that works Tongue

Ah, I just had you pegged as "liberal internationalist" in my book.

Cath's "the environment is a national security issue" means good pick for EPA.

I have no idea what powers the EPA admin has to erect massive seawalls, but we'll do what we can for emissions, Mr. President.
