Seems likely, albeit an unconventional one.

His combination of political radicalism and bigotry reminds me more of some wings of the Nation of Islam than any traditional Islamic sect, actually.

I do think that in private George Galloway identifies as a Muslim. To what extent that is legitimate conviction and to what extent it is adopted for reasons of personal gain -- difficult to say.

What's easier to say is that calling George Galloway scum of the lowest order is offensive to scum.

I think if he was Muslim, he would just admit it. Not like he would lose many votes over it. So maybe's he's not Muslim but he's letting people think he is?

I never knew about Galloway (other than him being Respect leader) until I read this and well... he seems more peculiar than any Canadian office holder I can think of. Yeah, he's a definite HP, but I kind of wish Canadian immigrants could be riled up for left-wing causes as much as those in Bradford West Tongue

After reading his wikipedia article and the Bradford West by-election article, I don't think he holds any concrete religious beliefs but identifies with muslim communities in a socio-political sense and he is able to immerse himself well enough for some muslims to see him as a fighter for their community.
