Apparently Chris Christie strong-armed the NJ AG office to accept a $250 million settlement in a $8.9 billion case against Exxon Mobil for environmental damage.

Chris Christie potentially deprived his state of over $8 billion dollars either to curry favor with the oil and gas industry or to get a short term boost of money to paper over his poor economic record in NJ.  Because, pursuing the case further might mean the state gets $8 billion, but after Christie had left office and couldn't take credit for it or benefit from the infusion of money.

Let's just say, like many parts of Northern New Jersey contaminated by Exxon Mobil, this stinks to high heaven.

And given the likes of Joe "I apologize" Barton in the party, how exactly would this hurt Christie in any run for the Republican nomination?

Just another item to add on to the list of corrupt actions Christie took as Governor. Whether it hurts him in the primary or -- not that he'll get this far -- the general, hardly matters.

Fortunately this asshole won't be getting anywhere near the Republican nomination any time soon.
