So in case you hadn't heard, I am in the middle of making arrangements to have my whole condo refurbished: paint, carpeting, furniture, kitchen. Things are starting to come together- I have hired a contractor, movers (everything we're keeping gets moved to the garage), and junk removal (old furniture). Picked out carpeting, kitchen cabinetry and flooring. Junk removal happens April 1, giving us until April 18 to pack up for the movers. The actual inside work will be done April 19-May 2. Still need to pick out furniture. I'll be happy to hear any advice on furniture, or anything related to this project.

I'd recommend not going with carpet if that was a consideration, since it not only gets ruined easily but easily becomes dated.

I agree, if y'all can afford it, go with hardwood or laminate instead of carpeting.

WHEW!!  The entire project is finally completed, except for unpacking and settling back in.  We did go with carpeting.  Here's the kitchen:
