TV AD: Opportunities for All - Joaquin Castro in 2016
(Joaquin Castro narrating;  Alternating shots of Castro speaking with constituents and U.S. landscapes)
(To play in Iowa, Nevada, South Carolina, New Hampshire)

My name is Joaquin Castro and I am running for President because I know I can make a difference.

Our Nation has embodied "Opportunity" for generations - economic opportunities, educational opportunities, and the opportunity for freedom.  But we are facing challenges now. Too many in our great Nation face economic hardships, challenged by job insecurity and underemployment.  Education has been consistently cut, stretching the resources of an already over-taxed system.  College costs continue to rise, outpacing the ability of many Americans to achieve their educational dreams.  Workforce development is not meeting the needs of our Country for innovation, growth, and  expansion.  And civil rights for all, no matter gender, race, or sexual orientation. And we come together to fix problems that arise, especially when those civil rights are infringed upon.

But we are a Nation of ideals, and now is our opportunity to make this Nation even better for our children - now is the time America!  Working together, not against each other.  We have had enough of counterproductive partisanship, of rumor mongering, of mean-spirited debates.  We must come together, debate and discuss to resolution, and move forward;  moving backwards is no longer an option.

My name is Joaquin Castro;  I am running for President, and I approve this message.

Tampa, I'm glad to be one of the first candidates to come down to Florida. It's an amazing state. You know, the pundits say that this place is off limits, that because Jeb Bush was your Governor, that this primary won't be competitive. That's insulting to every single one of you, by suggesting that you will simply vote for the guy who happened to have been Governor once. I intend to make this primary competitive and I hope you join me in that endeavor! Say no to Washington, say yes to America!

Do you know what the trade deficit with China is? Approximately $400 billion. Let me repeat that, approximately $400 billion. It sounds crazy doesn't it but it's true. I'm gonna be frank, free trade is failing us. We have lost billions of dollar overseas and we have lost millions of jobs overseas. How long can this continue? Until we are slaves to China, with nothing to sell and everything to buy? I won't let it happen. We have to stand up for American jobs. We have to find a new way.

Wednesday, October 21

Meet and Greet in Davenport, Iowa
Meet and Greet in Buffalo, Iowa
Meet and Greet in Le Claire, Iowa
Town hall in Davenport, Iowa

Endorsements

Donald Trump is the only candidate that I completely trust in 2016. He is prepared to take the fight to the establishment and tell them what we really think. I wholeheartedly endorse him for President.

Donald Trump is a true conservative warrior. Compared to the other candidates, there is no choice. Donald Trump has my vote and my voice.

Female voice: There's just one candidate this election that truly cares about American jobs

One candidate who's prepared to stop outsourcing and the destruction of communities

This man is Donald Trump, who throughout his entire career has striven to protect American jobs

Donald Trump: When I'm President, I'll make sure the government actually looks after American workers. I'll slow the flow of jobs overseas and I'll get onto reducing that trade deficit straight away. No longer will we be dependent on foreigners.

I'm Donald Trump and I approve this message.

Unity Through Strength, October 15-21st:

"As a party we must stand for things, and we have to stop being the party of no! The American people deserves a real agenda of reform instead of more years of empty rhetoric, and as I candidate I have every intention of standing up for things. I stand up for pro-life policies, for a stronger national defense, for a focused and efficient foreign policy, for a pro-small business agenda, for an effective stance against crime, for the protection of gun rights, for an honest effort to deal with the issue of immigration, and so on. This is a campaign of ideas and a campaign of reform, and we fight on to win!"

October 15th:
-South Carolina VIII:
(With Gov. Haley and Sen. Scott)
-Rally in Charleston, SC to receive SC endorsements.
-Meeting with volunteers at Charleston Office.
 -Bus Tour of Charleston:
  -Speaking at Charleston Southern University.

"I am very proud to count on the support of so many of my friends and colleagues here in South Carolina, and I am truly looking forward to having their support on their campaign trail. Representatives Sanford, Mulvaney and Gowdy and Senator Scott have been great voices in Washington DC, and I'm pretty sure Governor Haley has done a great job in this state. The primary season goes on, and we're picking up steam!"

October 16th:
(With Gov. Haley and Sen. Scott)
-South Carolina IX:
 -Town Hall in Aiken, SC.
 -Town Hall in Spartanburg, SC.
-Meet and Greet in Summerville, SC.
-Meet and Greet in Pontiac, SC.

October 17th:
(With Gov. Haley and Sen. Scott)
-South Carolina X:
 -Town Hall in Anderson, SC.
 -Town Hall in Greer, SC.
-Meet and Greet in Rock Hill, SC.
-Meet and Greet in Greenville, SC.

"I heard Ted Cruz came to the state the other day, and after hearing what he had to say I do feel I have to step in. I'm certainly not running for Secretary of Defense and I take this campaign very seriously, although I appreciate the praise. Senator Cruz seems to have developed this message of the "reform minded conservative hero" that will go to Washington to get things done, yet there are few accomplishments to back those claims. I know when to compromise and I know when to stand firm, and I can tell you that saying no to everything and then suddenly promising to be the voice of reform does not help the American people at all."

October 18th:
-Senate Duties:
 -Senate Duties.

October 19th:
  (With Sen. McCain)
-New Hampshire V:
 -Town Hall in Lebanon, NH.
 -Town Hall in Bedford, NH.
 -Town Hall in Somersworth, NH.
 -Town Hall in Claremont, SC.

October 20th:
  (With Sen. McCain)
-New Hampshire VI:
 -Town Hall in Exeter, NH.
 -Town Hall in Milford, NH.
 -Town Hall in Weare, NH.
 -Town Hall in Seabrook, NH.

"One of the things Senator McCain and I have noticed while being in the campaign trail is that many candidates have finally realized foreign policy exists. (Laughter) And you might laugh at that, but all of the sudden we have many foreign policy experts who know the answers to all of our challenges. Look, I am glad we are finally discussing foreign policy, but real foreign policy experience comes from years of efforts. I have travelled around the world, met many foreign leaders, seen battlefields and shared moments with our troops, and dealt with many issues of this nature on the Senate, and I can tell you that a couple of months being briefed does not constitute effective experience on this area, not to the degree Admiral McRaven or myself have."

October 21st:
  (With Sen. McCain)
-New Hampshire VII:
 -Rally in Berlin, NH.
 -Visiting Nashua, NH.
-Meet and Greet in Laconia, NH.
-Meet and Greet in Windham, NH.

Unity Through Strength, Strategy:

Staff and Others:

Senator Graham's campaign had the pleasure to announce that four new members will join the staff, all four experts with a successful record. First comes Brittany Bramell, former spokeswoman for Speaker Boehner that will serve as the Communications Director, then veteran operative Jon Seaton as a Senior Advisor and operatives Tracie Gibler and Christian Ferry, who will become the Iowa and New Hampshire Directors.

Iowa:

New Iowa Director Tracie Gibler will open a Des Moines office, and the Senator will start to campaign in Iowa pretty soon trying to focus on driving up turnout on the large cities and open more campaign offices as time and momentum goes by. Local media will be crucial in thi strategy, and plans are being made for interviews with endorsers and minor radio and newspaper ads to be run as soon as possible.

New Hampshire:

New Hampshire Director Christian Ferry will focus on expanding the number of offices and volunteers that the campaign has in New Hampshire, as the Senator will constest the primary in full force. Taking note from the successful McCain campaign, the focus will be on intensive town hall sessions to meet with the voters and appeal directly to them (along with veteran meetings and a strong message on economic recovery), using the opportunity of local media to expand coverage. Senator McCain will be a key part of the campaign here.

South Carolina:

Already a key state for the campaign, a good number of resources will be invested here to keep a strong GOTV operation with a focus on special groups. With most of the SC officeholders endorsing the campaign the idea is to appeal to pro-life organizations and military veterans and servicemen with Graham's record and personal experiences, all while taking advantage of Senator Scott, Governor Haley and the Representatives for rallies, town hall meetings and a constant work on the ground.

Other States: While Senator Graham's operation is small, plans are being made to expand to more early states so a truly national operation is ready by the time the primaries begin. For that effect offices will be built in Florida, Nevada and North Carolina, and the Senator will either tour those states or take a small national tour if time allows it. And to encourage press coverage, the Graham campaign will facilitate the job of the press by giving them constant access (similar to McCain's 2008 campaign).

Lindsey Graham Ad#1: Who is Lindsey Graham?

States: Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida and Nevada.

Voiceover: As the primary goes by the candidates are more and more known to the public, and yet the question still stands. Who really is Lindsey Graham? Can we trust him to lead our nation?

Graham: And I would like to answer that question myself. I think of myself as a fighter, a man ready to stand up for his beliefs while also being able to work across the aisle to help the American people. From the early days in which I took care of my sister to my time in the military to my days in public service, I have done the best to fight as a champion for the military, for jobs and economic prosperity, for a pro-life agenda, and for common sense reform in Washington. I like to think of myself as a conservative who gets things done. I know some will disagree with that, but it's up to you to judge, and it's up to you to vote. I'm Lindsey Graham, and of course I approve this message.

Amusing yes, but from your previous posts and how you talked about McCain, It seems like Graham/McCain or at least a strong cabinet position. You had to have talked to him about Secretary of State.

Joe Manchin for President: Schedule for October 15-21

Senator Manchin's plans in Iowa for this week

October 15th
Flight to Iowa
Rally in Davenport, Iowa
Meeting with Scott County Democrats
Town Hall in Bettendorf, Iowa

"Iowa, I'm not a politician that will keep giving the same old platitudes of change and then never deliver. I'm the type of politician that has fought against the prevailing forces of "my way or the highway." Look, politics is not a team sport, it is a valuable part of our society that has a massive impact on the everyday lives of everyone in this country. I want you to join with me to bring about an America that will work for you.

October 16th
Tour of the Downtown Commercial Historic District in Muscatine, Iowa
Town Hall in Muscatine, Iowa
Meeting with the Muscatine County Farm Bureau
Meet and Greet in Wapello, Iowa

October 17th
Meeting with Supporters in Des Moines, Iowa
Gather with Surrogates at Des Moines, Iowa
Rally with Surrogates in Des Moines, Iowa

Patti Ruff takes the stage

"Good afternoon Iowa! I know that I am an unlikely person to be speaking to you first today, with all these governors and senators here, oh and how could I forget, Joe Manchin! I have had the honor of joining with him on this campaign to bring real pragmatic values to restore our country back to where it belongs. Iowa, just as I've not let the "D" by name get in the way of representing all the people of Clayton and Alamakee counties, Joe Manchin has applied his philosophy of looking out for the little guy consistently even if it meant crossing the aisle.

I, for one, am proud to work to bring those values to Washington and I hope the good people of Iowa join me on this mission!"

David Boren takes the stage

"Hello, Iowa! I am humbled to be here today to support my good friend, US Senator Joe Manchin. A fighter on all the issues that matter to Americans, he can stand up for principles that he holds dear and ones that I believe most Americans do too. He has consistently brought to the table a different way of thinking than most of his colleagues and has been instrumental in the passage of compromises and acts such as the Keystone XL Pipeline which would have created jobs and a safer way of transporting the oil we already move! Joe Manchin's party blocked it but he was there and he worked for you. I ask that you support Joe with me to help bring the solutions that Washington so desperately needs."

Mary Landrieu takes the stage

"Joe Manchin and I worked together in the Senate vigorously to support commonsense solutions to support the values that you all in Iowa support. Respected the 2nd Amendment, an immigration overhaul that helps secure our border, and initiatives to bring about true energy independence are just a couple of the many things that we championed together in the Senate together.

Yes, it is true that in my reelection campaign Joe offered to come down to Louisiana and stump for me himself as that's just the kind of guy Joe is. He'll stick your neck out for you. Now I'd like to return the offer and give it everything I got to get that man in the White House!"

Steve Bullock takes the stage

"I support Joe Manchin because he understands what it means to be a Democrat - that is sticking up for the little guy even in the face of the overwhelming obstacles and opposition. Joe Manchin had the courage to stand up to both the NRA and Obama when he compromised on background check with Senator Pat Toomey. He fought for immigration reform. He fought for the Keystone Oil Pipeline with me in the face of massive opposition by his own party. There is no better man to take on the Washington establishment than him."

Bruce Bearinger takes the stage

"I'd like to talk to you all today about Joe Manchin, the champion of the farmer. All my life I've lived in Oelwein, Iowa and have worked hard my entire career in public service to stick up for the hardest workers in this great state. As John F. Kennedy once said, 'The Farmer is the only man in our economy who buys everything at retail, sells everything at wholesale and pays the freight both ways.' Being such a crucial part of our economy, farmers need to be looked out for and we need to elect a president who can look out for those hard workers out on the Iowa fields.

Joe Manchin has shown himself to be strongly in favor of Iowa farmers and has been outspoken so far in his 99 counties tour of our state, being the only one in favor of increasing our farm subsidies and has paid close attention the situation on the ground, having met with several county farm bureaus. No other candidate has put in this time and it is clear who the farmer's choice here is in this election. Join with me in supporting Joe Manchin, the only choice for Iowa."

Joe Manchin takes the stage

"The message is clear folks, pragmatic leadership that we so rarely get from either party nowadays is something that I can deliver on. As your president I will bring real results to solve America's problems and I have the record and credentials to prove it. I will bring values of helping every American out and in the process not having to tow any party line. This is a message that I truly believe can solve the seemingly insurmountable obstacles that lay ahead of our country in the future and I ask you to accompany me on this task

I'd like to thank the fine people of Des Moines for coming out and my good friends that have joined me on the campaign trail this fine day. Thank you, Iowa!

October 18th
Speech in Burlington, Iowa
Meeting with Des Moines County Democrats
Meet and Greet in Keokuk, Iowa
Town Hall in Fort Madison, Iowa

October 19th
Meet and Greet in Mount Pleasant, Iowa
Meeting with the Henry County Farm Bureau
Appearance on CNN
Flight to South Carolina

Wolf Blitzer: "You've been getting a lot of flack for your environmental policy so far this election season. Anything to say to that?"

Joe Manchin: "I'd love it if we could talk about free trade or foreign policy, however I"ll return to this topic again. We must have a policy of energy in this country that provides a balanced approach. What I mean to say here is that if Secretary Clinton or John Kerry has their way, thousands if not hundreds of thousands would be out of work and on the streets. We need to be focusing on developing clean coal, renewable energy such as windmills and solar panels, and ethanol.

October 20th

Questioner: "What about gun rights?"

Joe Manchin: "I have every respect for our 2nd Amendment and hold it high regard, in fact I was endorsed by the NRA the first time I ran for Senate. I believe the plain old reasonable thing to do is to make sure that no criminal can just walk into a store and walk out with a very deadly weapon, and this can be done through the use of criminal background checks. That's why I stood up against the NRA to compromise with Republicans to find a commonsense solution to our gun problem."

OOC:I don't want to rush you Spiral, I just want to make sure this thread is still living and we haven't opened a new thread and started the campaign there. I know that personal things do come up, but I love the game, and am excited to continue the primaries when you have the chance to return!

It's Showtime

Another week has passed by and the candidates have been actively seeking support, building their campaigns, and praying for victory in the early primaries. While some like Jerry Brown have been exclusively focusing on one state the past week, others like Hillary Clinton and Scott Walker have been touring multiple states. It is becoming apparent which states the contestants are pinning their hopes on most. On the Democratic side, the goal is to topple Hillary Clinton and surge to the top by winning Iowa and/or New Hampshire, but in a crowded field, the chances of another competitor doing that becomes more difficult at the moment. Things would be more fluid for the Republicans. Jeb Bush is the assumed frontrunner but can lose steam should he not do well in the first few contests. The past couple of weeks have been very good for Ted Cruz. The conservative firebrand appeared above the fray recently by evoking Ronald Reagan's 11th Commandment following attacks exchanged by the Bush and Walker camps, further boosting his poll numbers as a result. Bush would cede some support and Walker gained back ground, and lower polling figures like Lindsey Graham have been reaching voters and building their ground game.

This week is notable because primary debates will be held for both the Democrats and Republicans, giving all the candidates a chance to show off and make the case why they should be the next commander-in-chief. Some may rise and others may fall depending on their performance. With the cameras on them, the primary season intensifies.

Headlines of the week:

Politico: McConnell to push tax reform ahead

CNN: Rand and Trump engaged in Twitter war

CBS: Pat Buchanan: "Cruz will be the GOP nominee"

Republican and Democratic Primary Debates

Candidates from both parties will respond to the questions below. In addition to these questions, you may also engage with your opponents on the stage (highly encouraged--these should be fun) by responding to their statements, posing your own questions, etc.

1. What will you do as president to combat ISIS and other terrorist groups? Do you agree with how the Obama administration has handled this issue?

2. In recent years, relations between the US and Israel have become more strained. What would you do to improve relations and also resolve the dispute between the Israelis and the Palestinians?

3. Voters overwhelmingly favor an increase in the minimum wage, and multiple states have taken action on this. Do you favor increasing the minimum wage, and if so, by how much?

4. Do you agree with President Obama's executive order last year on immigration? What is your plan to reform the country's immigration system?

5. Out of all the other people on this stage, who would you most want to have in your Cabinet, and for what position?

This turn will last from October 22-28. You have the next 96 hours to post your schedules.

Hillary Clinton-New Endorsements

Former Secretary of Transportation/Secretary of Energy Federico Peña (D-CO)

I happen to like Luis Gutierrez, but he's not going to win in November. Joaquin Castro has a bright future ahead of him, but I think his next step should be to run for the Senate or Governor in 2018 instead. Hillary is our present, and while Castro shows the future is indeed bright for our party, it's not here yet (and hopefully won't be until 2024).

Former Attorney General Martha Coakley (D-MA)

Secretary Kerry may have our persistent losing in common, but I don't want to be on a losing ride again. Hillary Clinton's going to take the nomination, and then hopefully, she'll emerge triumphant in November.

Former Congressman Richard "Dick" Swett (D-NH)

We've got a deep field, but the reality is there's only one candidate who can take down the Bush's the Cruz's and the Paul's of the field, and that candidate is Hillary.

Former State Senator Swati Dandekar (D-IA)

Hillary may not have won Iowa eight years prior, but she's our best candidate do so this time, and finally breaking another glass ceiling is just as alluring.

Former Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio (D-FL)

Florida has been a swing state for several elections now, and we need to think about the best candidates to win this state, and others. That candidate, at least in my eyes is Hillary Clinton.

State Senator Michael Gronstal (D-IA)

Hillary's proven that even though her Presidential ambitions remain unabated, she can be a team player for someone else, something many of us were wondering when she became Secretary of State. Now that this has happened, I have no doubt she can be an effective President.

Hillary Clinton-Debate

President Obama certainly hasn't done the best job with the situation, but we should bear in mind that this could be a lot worse. While ISIS has launched major attacks across the Middle East, and control large swaths of Iraqi and Syrian territory, they haven't been able to launch organized attacks against the west. This of course, does not mean they aren't a threat to us, as we've had significant numbers of people caught leaving for the battlegrounds in Syria and Iraq, raising the danger of "lone wolf" attacks. To solve this, we need to ban travel in any form to Iraq and Syria, to build a group of allies that support us, and doesn't make it look like we're doing all the work, and to prevent Americans and other westerners involved with ISIS from returning to their countries of origin.

When you have two leaders who disagree with each other on everything, like President Obama and Prime Minister Netanyahu or Chancellor Merkel or Prime Minister Tsipiras, relations are usually going to be strained. There's not much that can be done about that. As for negotiating with the Palestinians, as much I, or anyone else would like to a two state solution. the reality is that everything the Palestinians have done since 1948 have shown they don't want peace, they want to wipe Israel off the earth, and it's amazing that the Israelis have not responded in kind.

I most certainly do support an increase in the Federal minimum wage, and my personal opinion is it should match the average of all state minimum wages and be chained to inflation when it goes up. The problem is, with a GOP Congress passing a minimum wage increase is going to be impossible. Still we can remedy that, which is why I call on voters to elect to a Democrat to the White House, and to flip both the House and the Senate, which will be difficult, but doable, and so worth it for things like this.

President Obama did abuse the Executive Powers of his office to deal with immigration, but what was he supposed do? He was dealing with a hot-button issue that no one has even tried to touch in almost a decade, and a Republican Caucus that hates him for existing. As for the order itself, it's an excellent framework, but people need to keep in mind Mexico is not the only country our undocumented immigrants come from-this is a community which spans the globe.

Now, since we haven't even reached the Iowa Caucuses yet I'm going to be a bit vague...but let's just say I could find a job for all of my fellow Democrats on this stage, plus the Donald.

You can imagine she has the 'Democratic wing of the Democratic party' locked up for the most part.

Kerry Debate Responses

What will you do as president to combat ISIS and other terrorist groups? Do you agree with how the Obama administration has handled this issue? ISIS has largely been contained within the Middle East, thanks to President Obama's policies. He has done the best he can to combat ISIS and terrorism as a whole. America has been safer than ever under President Obama and I stand by the President in his efforts. That said, as President, I will lead America down a different path with respect to combating terrorism. Any action taken cannot be taken unilaterally. As we learned with the War in Iraq, any action must be taken with a strong, unified coalition.

In recent years, relations between the US and Israel have become more strained. What would you do to improve relations and also resolve the dispute between the Israelis and the Palestinians? I stand very strongly with our friends in Israel. President Obama and Prime Minister Netanyahu simply do not have a strong personal relationship. I believe that the Prime Minister and I are much closer than he and the President are. As for the issue of Palestine and Israel - if the Palestinians continue to resort to terror and extremism they will never have an independent state.

Voters overwhelmingly favor an increase in the minimum wage, and multiple states have taken action on this. Do you favor increasing the minimum wage, and if so, by how much? I have always supported raising the minimum wage to a livable wage. This is a position that has been approved by voters across the nation on many occasions. I support raising the minimum wage to $17 per hour for untipped workers, and $5.25 for tipped workers. It's time to let all Americans make a reasonable living.

Do you agree with President Obama's executive order last year on immigration? What is your plan to reform the country's immigration system? I believe, out of respect for the current administration, it would be rude for me to comment on the President's Executive Order. I will comment that his hand was forced by Congressional Republicans and their obstruction of any legitimate immigration reform. As President, I will work for a Middle-of-the-Road solution that strengthens our border, makes the citizenship process easier and more streamlined, and protects the children that were brought to this nation by their parents.

Out of all the other people on this stage, who would you most want to have in your Cabinet, and for what position? There are many qualified men and women on this stage who would capably serve in a Kerry administration. Admiral McRaven would be a likely, strong choice for either Secretary of Defense or Homeland Security.

To former Secretary Clinton: Mrs. Clinton, in your answer to the minimum wage question you said that you support raising the minimum wage and yet you fail to put a number on it. Your response about being the average of all state minimums doesn't make sense. If a bill to raise the minimum wage to $17 was sent to your desk, assuming you win both the primary and the general election, would you sign it?
