Ok so I have been thinking about this for a while, does this seem like an accurate description of the factions these candidates represent?

Bush - Establishment, moderate, big business.
Christie - same as Bush
Paul - libertarian, anti-establishment
Cruz - Tea Party, anti-establishment, religious right
Rubio - Establishment, conservative
Carson - Tea Party.
Fiorina - Establishment, big business.
Santorum - religious right, Tea Party, populist.
Huckabee - Evangelical, populist.
Perry - (this was tough) Tea Party, conservative, religious right?
Trump - big business, conservative.
Walker - establishment? conservative?
Kasich - estabishment with conservative leanings.
Graham - establishment, sort of moderate.

Walker also would have business.

Maybe scratch Tea Party from Perry? Maybe scratch everything from Perry? Lol

Santorum isn't Tea Party at all. Not even a little bit.

I wouldn't say Carson is either necessarily. He hasn't really laid his positions out there enough to be pinned into any group besides anti-establishment and religious right.

What makes you think Santorum wasn't Tea Party?

The Tea Party's primary concern is small government. Santorum's not really a small government guy. Santorum's main concerns are social issues and manufacturing.

IMHO, Santorum seemed to be the conservative side of the establishment now that I think about it

You could call him that perhaps, but I would say he was more of an insurgent, anti-establishment socon. The Republican world isn't neatly divided between the establishment and the Tea Party. It's possible to be neither.

Didn't 538 or someone make a nice chart of factions and candidates?

Yes, and the "?"s with Walker are a clue as to why he'll win.

Perry is definitely going for evangelical voters, though I have my doubts that he can attract them in such an saturated field.

Walker fits every category reasonably well.
