I'd rather live in what's basically "St. Paul-lite" than the capital of hell on earth.

What's the difference? Des Moines is colder and less churchy? They're both mid sized metros on the Plains. I can't see life being that different in either.

Both would be extremely boring, but at least Des Moines is within weekend excursion driving distance of Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Louis, KC, and I guess Omaha. OKC is relatively close to what? Dallas and KC?

Des Moines is a great city.  It reminds me a lot of a significantly bigger Peoria (not so much demographically, but the downtown itself).  So, an easy choice for me.

However, I've never been to OKC and have a close friend from there who speaks quite highly of it, so I won't get on my high horse.

Des Moines for the reasons stated previously by Lief and Boris, plus Iowa actually has interesting political races.

Des Moines is smaller, colder, and leftward. Des Moines in every way.

My vote goes further in Des Moines and at least I don't automatically hear banjos and slide guitars when I hear its name.

This isn't a contest.

I want nothing to do with Oklahoma.

Des Moines is smaller, colder, and leftward. Des Moines in every way.

Which is exactly why I'm voting for OKC. Wink
