What sort of trends would have to occur for an election map like this to occur a hundred years from now. in the 2012 Presidential Contest? Remember Red means Democrats and Blue means Republicans.

Note: DBWI means Double Blind What-If which indicates discussing an event from a setting that is not the present.

Impossible. Have you ever talked to a Southern voter? They hate Republicans and will vote Democratic no matter what. I don't see how this could change. Besides, what if the Socialists become a major party?

The only situation I could see this happening under would be if the Republican Party abandons progressivism and returns to being the party of William McKinely, Yankee progressives migrate and eventually become the predominant force in the Democratic Party and force civil rights legislation on the south. I've heard talk that some of the younger negro leaders are considering endorsing Wilson his election, it isn't as if the Republicans have done much for them in the last generation.

Well first Obama has to catch Bin Ladin, get Bill Clinton to speak at his 2012 DNC, and to paint Romney as a flip flopper other then that this map is ASB

Perhaps our 1912 astute political observers would predict that Blacks would get the vote in the South, would numerically outnumber Whites (which they would have in MS and SC if not for massive out-migration from 1930 to 1970) and would vote GOP, thus turning the region Republican.
