Basically, I see these measures as relatively low-cost, common sense measures to help eradicate the problem of pedestrian deaths in the Northeast. Considering the uptick in pedestrian deaths in recent years, along with the preventability of these deaths, even the smallest changes can have the biggest effects. These measures should also encourage more walking in Northeastern cities, and shouldn't be too hardto implement considering that several Northeastern cities have already started to adopt these measures.

They seem ok to me. One of the biggest things on this bill we might focus on is actually to improve crossing guard training. I know when I was a young child there was one very old guard who nearly caused an accident at least twice by misdirecting the traffic. It would be worthwhile to look at if this kind of thing is still going on.
