If a Republican wins in 2016, do you think that Bolton would be on the short list for SoS, or even defense secretary?

I think that Robert Zolleck would be the most likely Secretary of State choice if the Republicans win in 2016.

If the Republicans hold the Senate, Bolton is certainly a contender. Robert Zoellick is likely insufficiently pro-Israel to be nominated.

If Marco Rubio or Jeb Bush win, you can count on it being a very good possibility.

And this.

It's funny because he would be, despite the fact that he has absolute no diplomatic skill

I mean, if you have WalterMitty's endorsement, what else do you need? Certainly not competence.

I'd rather him be Defense Secretary.  As long as he's not dictating social policy, he supported GOproud.
