I have been pondering this thought for a while, if/when Walker jumps in, where will his support come from? I tend to believe he will get his support from a mix of the more moderate aspects of the Christian Right, as well as maybe some more right leaning moderate voters with a mix of the business conservative crowd. That is just my guess, what do you guys think?

krazen Republicans basically: the more conservative "Establishment" Republicans and the more pragmatic elements of the Tea Party that emphasize economic issues while holding social conservative stances and a hawkish foreign policy.

This, plus a few libertarians and more moderate Republicans who want to cut spending.

Given his more recent hawkish statements about Iraq and ISIS, I don't think libertarians will vote for him.

Perhaps, though I think a few may anyways.  Prior to those comments, he probably was on better footing with libertarians (my opinion of him has sunk since them).  Personally, I hope the GOP nominates an electable moderate like Kasich at this point; he's pretty much our only hope.

Kasich probably would be a good candidate, my only concern is that he would split the vote with Bush/Christie who ever else counts as moderate and allow a more extreme candidate to win. I mean I am team Rand for the primary, but I am willing to vote for who ever is the nominee, unless it's Cruz or Santorum/Huckabee.

His base is those who want a center right electable candidate who will be competent in office. If Walker does not show that he has those qualities, his "base" will disappear.

Yeah.  50-65 year-old fathers with kids in high school/college seem like a pretty Walker-friendly demographic.

Anti-union and anti-environmentalist interests; those who want the potentially-profitable assets of government sold off cheaply; people in contempt of the college-educated.

Centre-right suburbanites who care more about cutting taxes than homos and foreign policy.

Republicans who are too Conservative for the Establishment, but not angry enough to be Tea Partiers (and who are not Libertarians).  I could see Rubio, Perry, and possibly Santorum fighting for many of the same voters.

In other words, people who are:
-VERY fiscally Conservative
-Neo-con
-Conservative on social issues

But:
-People who place securing the border first will vote for someone like Cruz
-People obsessed with marriage will vote for Huckabee
-People who are against an interventionalist foreign policy will vote for Paul
-People who really only care about protecting big business will vote for Bush

Basically, someone who really wants someone further to the right than the "Establishment" but who still wants a "electable" candidate.

SOURCE: My tentative short list is Walker, Rubio, Perry, and Santorum.

Walker is shooting to be the Generic Republican more or less. He's running to be a candidate for the whole party rather than an interest group niche. He's amenable to the Tea Party and the establishment without really being either. He's amenable to libertarians and socons without being identified as either.
