Not particularly relevant to modern U.S. politics, especially given the multiple socialist fragments there are. Still, there was a demand and some of our international members were already choosing avatars based on their own non-U.S. parties.

It does seem odd to have it. I think it suits European posters who are socialist and support parties with a socialist tradition, but a lot of US posters are wearing it who are about as socialist as I am...

I'm looking forward to the introduction of Prohibition Party and Whig Party avatars as well, so that all the decrepit fringe parties of old that no one actually supports in the present day can be represented and we can all avatar-cosplay to our heart's content!

I'm a big fan of non-ironic avatars.  If people actually consider themselves socialist, fine; they look kind of cool.  However, if you're a run-of-the-mill Democrat who would get all defensive and mock your opposition if they called you a socialist yet have chosen that as your avatar ... Well, yeah, that's kind of lame.
