The annual when do schools start in your area thread

I like to do this every year to see when schools start around the country.

Oklahoma City kids are already starting to wind down their summer.  With their continuous learning calendar, they start back to school on August 3.  Other schools including my collegiate alma mater, my high school, and Tulsa Public Schools start the third week of August between August 17 and 20.

What about in your area?

I like to keep up with what's going on in my community and that includes the school system.  One of my biggest political issues is education even though I don't have a child in school.  I have friends who do have kids in the public school system and I care about what's going on in the schools.

Given how warped the weather is, it's actually the hottest time of the year when it starts.

I "care about education" to the extent that it affects me in ways like influencing labor markets and economic competitiveness. But it makes zero sense for me to care about things like what the local school's schedule is because that doesn't affect me. And unless I lived in a small town where there was nothing noteworthy apart from high school football, it's really not appropriate for me or any other childless non-educator person to be involved in what is going on at school.
