Declaration of Principles

The Workers Party is a party dedicated to the emancipation of the proletariat from the shackles placed upon it by the employing class, otherwise known as the bourgeoisie. To that end, the Workers Party seeks to educate and agitate the working masses in preparation for the eventual overthrow of the capitalist system and the introduction of a socialist system, in which the exploitation of man by man shall be tossed into the ashbin of history and true freedom, heretofore unknown to the generations of mankind that have inhabited the earth since the dawn of class society, attained.

The Workers Party, unlike the Socialist Party and other pretenders that mislead the working class into thinking that petty reforms under the present system will pave the wave to ending exploitation, believes that the only way to end exploitation and oppression is to exercise the power of the working class, centered in the ability of the working class to refuse to produce, and thus throw a wrench in the works of the capitalist system. The Workers Party calls on all workers to organize under the banner of Marx, Engels, Lenin, and Trotsky and smash the system which exploits their labor, robs them of their health, and leads them into an early grave, all the while those who benefit from all described herein enjoy lives of unearned and unwarranted luxury.

The primary goal of the Workers Party within a parliamentary context is the use of parliamentary procedure for propaganda purposes. If elected, representatives of the Workers Party shall use their positions to propagate to the masses the need for revolutionary overthrow of the capitalist system, international labor solidarity, and to advocate to the fullest policies which advance the ability of the workers to organize and smash the class enemy.

As Lenin noted, every real revolutionary party must have a newspaper to hawk at major events and on street corners to push forward the revolutionary struggle and imbibe the toiling masses with class conscious politics. I propose that we launch such a paper, but I am, at the moment, unsure about a name for such an ambitious project. Do the comrades here have any suggestions? I have a few, mostly cribbed from real life communist newspapers -

- The Daily Worker (a classic standby used by both the CPUSA and the CPGB in their respective heydays)
- The Weekly Worker (like the above, but in a weekly format)
- The Militant (to reflect our Trotskyist heritage; this is the name of the old Socialist Workers Party's newspaper in the United States)

As we've yet to decide on a setting, I have removed our platform for the time being. I would like to re-write it in accordance with the setting we ultimately choose for the game.

I'd also like to draw up a party constitution after we determine what the game is going to look like. As a Leninist party, we will of course have a Central Executive Committee and be governed by democratic centralism (absolute freedom of debate, absolute unity in action) and shall allow for factions, provided that these factions subscribe to a Leninist organizational model and do not impede the class struggle and/or represent alien class forces. Once we get our CEC set up, we'll set up our newspaper and decide on a name.

I approve of the constitution - see no issues with it. Perhaps a provision stating that the Executive Chairman, being responsible for activities in the parliament, make the party list? Or are we laying out how the party list will be formed in another area?

I think that it would be best for the Chairman to develop the list and then it be approved by a vote of the Central Executive Committee, IMO.

Given our small numbers (at the time being), I think it's probably best that we temporarily wave the 3 person requirement on the Central Executive Committee and have all of us as more or less a provisional CEC, at least until we can get more members. I accept the nomination for Chairman and nominate Turkisblau for Executive Secretary and Mechaman for Deputy Chairman.

PROGRAM

Immigration: The Workers Party favors the freedom of movement of all peoples within South America, and a uniform citizenship law granting citizenship to all persons born on the continent prior to unification. Likewise, we favor the granting of citizenship by birth to all persons born since unification and the immediate extension of citizenship to persons born to South Americans abroad. The Workers Party will fight for the defense of immigrants from xenophobic bigotry and racist terror, and demands the labor movement of South America do the same. For freedom of movement for all South Americans! Down with anti-immigrant xenophobia and nationalist bigotry!

Industry: The Workers Party demands the immediate expropriation of capitalist enterprise by the working class, organized under the banner of the Workers Party. The capitalist system provides us with misery, greed, and war. We demand its abolition in favor of a democratically planned, nationalized economy that will provide for the transition of society away from the ruthless exploitation of capitalist industry and toward a society in which the condition for the free development of each is the free development of all. Expropriate the expropriators! For workers control within the framework of a nationalized, planned economy!

Foreign Policy: The consolidation of the South American continent provides ample opportunity for South America to become a new imperialist power abroad. We say no to imperialist adventurism abroad! Defeat the South American capitalist class and establish a revolutionary dictatorship of the working class! Only then will the outward policies of the South American government have a truly revolutionary character. Defend Cuba, Laos, North Korea, Viet Nam, and China against imperialist transgressions! Aid workers in the former United States! No participation in the United Nations imperialist club, NATO, or other aggressive military alliances!

Abortion: The right of abortion must be protected at all costs! Labor must mobilize and defend abortion clinics from terrorist attack! The right of abortion must be allowed on demand and without cost to those seeking them. No compromise with the forces of religious reaction! The Catholic Church out of South American politics! Defend women's liberation, gay rights, and racial equality against capitalist oppression and religious mystification!

Social Welfare: Integrate existing welfare systems into a single, continent-wide system of social benefits for all. No to means-testing! Defend socialized medicine against capitalist vultures! Extend the gains of the South American proletariat via socialist revolution, in which all will be guaranteed a home, an education, medical care, and the other necessities of life! The only way to truly protect and preserve the welfare state is via the abolition of capitalism!

I would to thank Chairman TNF for drafting our manifesto; I support it 100%. It is clear from the past election and the ensuing result that the Worker's are the only legitimate option for those on the left.

Indeed! As the bourgeois liberals show their true colors by uniting with their bourgeois brethren in the Tory party, we must show our own by demanding nothing short of the end of that government which exists to fleece the working class. Down with the capitalist administration of Potus and Talleyrand! For a government based on workers' councils!

The Workers Party is extending critical support to the campaign of Murica for leader of the Socialist Party. While we have no illusions that electing a member of the party's left-wing will result in the transformation of that bourgeois workers' party on socialist grounds, we do believe it important to put the left-most face on that party, so as to help the working class see that reform through the system (even under a 'left-wing' reformist government) will always ultimately hit the wall that is the bourgeois state, and inevitably result in class collaborationism.

We call on all working people to break with the Socialist Party and join the revolutionary movement of the South American working classes. Murica may yet present an attractive platform, but such a left-wing platform can only be preserved under the dictatorship of the proletariat.

The Workers Party encourages all class conscious workers to come out as a body to make their voices heard with regard to the fate of the capitalist Tory-Liberal government. A motion of confidence has been introduced in Parliament to affirm the confidence of the legislature in the government. We of the Workers Party say: Down with the capitalist Tory-Liberal government!

The government has produced nothing more than a flimsy 'constitution' on which its bourgeois legality will have a binding character. This charter is not worth the paper it is written on. It is nothing more than a straightjacket with which to bind the working masses of South America, a chain with which the capitalists of the South have decided to use to unify and undermine the entirety of our social gains as workers under the old order. We, however, do not demand a return to the petty national chauvinism of the past. We demand: Down with the South American government! For a government of revolutionary workers' councils! For a socialist United States of South America!

We have no confidence in bourgeois legality or this bourgeois parliament. It will disappoint the working class and will ultimately offer nothing more than surface modifications to this most exploitative and oppressive of social structures.
