The Morton House Club
1500 Rhode Island Avenue Northwest
Washington, D.C. 20005

THE MORTON HOUSE CLUB is intended to act as a non-partisan organisation and gathering place for all those whose political leanings place them right-of-centre. Taking inspiration from groups like the Carlton Club and the Reform Club in early 19th-century London, the Morton House Club aims to help further the process of political organisation and governmental and party formation. The Club takes its name from Levi P. Morton, 22nd Vice President of the United States, who lived in the house, which in part (the full name is the Brodhead-Bell-Morton Mansion) bears his name, during his tenure.

It is hoped that in these early days, the Club will provide a space to flesh out a vision for the new government in a time when parties, not to mention a party system, is in its earliest days. Beyond that, it is hoped that it will also provide a space to discuss ideas, political positions aside, for the new government. Certainly I would like to use the venue to put forward my own ideas.

So sign up, take a seat, eat a nice steak, have a good drink, and let's talk! Membership is open to any and all those who find their views consistent with the general direction of the Club, that is, on the broad spectrum of the right.

But of course. Waiters are all around. I personally go for the Lapsang Souchong. But it's past five, so, in that vein, I'll be having Laphroaig, neat.

We also plan to strenuously agitate for a Westminster-style parliamentary system while drinking our tea.

I'll go for the strictly Assamese Irish when I actually want a real breakfast tea blend!
