Pope Francis is really a hipster, but the Catholic church manages to scrub any references of it in the media. It's interesting. I was reading an article asking how different are Popes Francis and Benedict XVI.

The writer, John Allen, mentions that both Popes are very similar with their beliefs, but their character which has influenced their image for the public, has made them look different in comparison. Also, the author writes that different things like what the Popes says are reported more often, which in fact affects the way people see them.
