So, it seems like the Provisional Parliament has settled on a bill that will write into law our first president. I'm guessing this will also turn into a matter where the first good idea will be over-eagerly passed as the only good idea, so I've created this thread to make sure the first good idea is the right one.

If you want to nominate yourself, go ahead. Make your case here. If you want to nominate someone else, even better. I'd rather you make a case, though, either way--not simply "[forum member] would be great! Let's elect him/her!" You could even just list a criteria you think our interim president needs to meet, in order to narrow the field a bit.

I'd personally like it to just be people who have already been active in parliament to be in consideration. Maybe I'm being short-sighted, but I'd rather see it go to someone who knows what we're doing and has been part of this project from early on.

I would like to nominate myself. I have garnered numerous enemies over the last year, have been against most of the quick "rah-rahing" around ideas in this sim, and I believe am at least regarded as a bit of a steady hand thanks to my time in Atlasia. Moderately competent and average sounds like what we need right now, and that's what you'd get from me.

What a pitch!

I nominate the OP, due to his reasoned approach to passing legislation and his insistence that we not rush through major decisions.

I favor granting the position to Hashemite if he wants it.

Hash is the preferred candidate of the SocLibs.*

*Acknowledging that he has to actually want the position, of course.

If I can second both of these, I'll do that. I'd like the job, obviously (thanks, Sanchez!) but I think that Hagrid would pretty much do what I'd do as interim president.

Both of us kind of represent the "let's not rush through stuff" faction.

I speak for the entire Socialist Party when I say that I am unequivocally opposed to Leinad's candidacy.

The Conservative Party is seeking to unite the national community and provide stable, even-handed leadership in our nation's infancy. Therefore, we will join with our fellow countrymen, regardless of ideology, to elect Hashemite our Interim President.

Speaking for the Social Liberals we thank the Conservatives for such a sensible and gracious move to make.

How about Hagrid? If I'm too controversial/new/annoying, I think he'd be an excellent first president.

I would be honoured to serve, but I think I speak for my entire party when I say Hashemite is more than qualified.
