Probably Warren, but don't forget people like Tim Kaine, Martin Heinrich, Kamala Harris.
I think that if a GOPer wins in 2016 and expecially if the GOP will lose the midterms big with an unpopular President, there will be a lot of democratic candidates.

Yeah I forgot to add an 'Other' option.

I would think any prospective candidates would realistically have to have been in office at least 4 years before running; the 2018 freshmen couldn't run in 2020.

Gillibrand or Warren, Kaine also. Maybe Gavin Newsom as well.

That would depend on who the Republican sitting in the White House, if its John Kasich, then Andrew Cuomo might make the cut, if it's Marco Rubio, then it could be Kirsten Gillibrand or maybe Sherrod Brown and ditto for Jeb Bush.

Warren would be the clear frontrunner by Wednesday.

Warren becomes frontrunners but I honestly don't think she wants to be POTUS. She wants to climb in Senate leadership and I think she makes a play for Maj/Min Whip to Patty Murray's Leader. Kirsten Gillibrand and Cory Booker become frontrunners, with Julian Castro having a good chance as well once he gets some worthwhile experience.

Voted Castro due to the likelihood of him being a running-mate.

Others:
Martin Heinrich
Martin O'Malley
Bill DeBlasio
Charlie Crist
Mark Warner
Gavin Newsom

If Warren wants it, she'll be a frontrunner.

Otherwise I'd bet on Gilibrand, Julian Castro or Kamala Harris. Gilibrand is a broadly acceptable Senator with a progressive reputation who would help the party have a second shot at electing the first female President. Kamala Harris has a reputation for leadership on justice issues, and could appeal to large segments of the party. Julian Castro is the party's most prominent young Hispanic.

I could see Bill De Blasio running, but he's probably too urban for the primaries.

Whoever is Clinton's running mate is likely to have an elevated profile. It's typically not a path to the nomination, but the reasons Ferraro, Bentsen, Lieberman, Edwards and Palin didn't win nominations might not apply to the next guy.

If the Sanders/DNC fight causes Hillary Clinton to lose because of depressed turnout, then the Democratic Party has a powerful choice-the Tim Kaine/Joaquin Castro way (moderate Democrats, sane Democrats), or the Shaun King/leftist way. Democrats have a tough road, even if demographics (younger, secular, Godless, minority voters) is their destiny.
