Perennial candidate; she ran for the other Senate seat twice, both times losing to Roy Blunt, 2010 and 2016. She got 7% of the votes the first time, third place in the primary, and 20.2% of the vote second time, second place.

Claire McCaskill is probably going to wait until it is closer to the election before making a statement on RTW.

Why?

That 27-year-old who won the Missouri general assembly seat last night ran against Right to Work and on a general pro-labor platform. Is McCaskill doing anything with unions and the upcoming RTW ballot referendum?

She would be dumb not to. I’ve suspected the unions put RTW on the 2018 ballot specifically to help Claire.

Missouri's Constitution allowed them to delay the law by gathering enough signatures to place it on the ballot. Those unions are fighting for their lives.

Ah didn’t know that was how it worked (that’s how it is here in Washington, too).

Hawley isn't weakened by these comments. People will forget in days, let alone months.

I agree with that. After all, even Ronald Reagan had said that pollution was caused by trees. And yet, he didn't stop him from being a great President.

Yeah, Reagan was an awful President for very different reasons.

I remember her 2002 re-election campaign for state auditor. Look it up. You will laugh.

If MO, an R+22 state, actually votes for a Democratic Senator, every leader of the state GOP should be fired and imprisoned for retardation.

Yeah, Reagan was an awful President for very different reasons.

If Reagan was "awful" as you're claiming, why is this that he won presidential elections twice in landslides? Why is this that he finished his presidency with a 63 % approval rating in addition of having it at over 50-60 % for most of his presidency?

http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/data/popularity.php?pres=40

Because he managed to grow the economy through tax cuts, reduced inflation from 12.5 % to 4.4 %, reduced the unemployment rate from 7.5 % in 1980 to 5.4 % in 1989, created 16 million new jobs and brought an average annual growth of real of 3.4 %. His foreign policy led America to victory over the USSR in the Cold War thanks to a strong diplomacy, to a reinforcement of the U.S. military through an increase of defense spending, to the Strategic Defense Initiative and to the INF that aweakenedthe USSR's nuclear arsenal. No wonder that he made America a shining city on a hill.

What I mean by mentioning Reagan is that I don't think Hawley's comments will really hurt him and I just gave example of that when Reagan said that trees caused pollution.

It's just a matter of opinion.

I'm surprised Austin Petersen isn't mentioned more, he has potential to be a new Rand Paul. From what I've heard so far he has the largest number of individual donors of anyone in the primary.

Rand Paul routinely underperforms so I hope Peterson is the nominee if he is like Paul. Smiley

You do realize his predecessor won both his races by the slimmest of margins right? Rand by comparison has had comfortable wins.

Ignoring everything else, this is one of the silliest American myths about the Cold War. Gorbachev ended the Cold War, and no one else. Reagan and Bush just happened to be the folks on watch when  the 'enemy' sub sunk of its own accord.
