And no.. this news does not make MO Sen safe R.

Its not like it is going to get Greitens off the news... and the impact of the scandal on the MO Sen election was always over played.

Yes, clearly a Republican governor resigning will help a Republican Senate candidate in the same state. Roll Eyes

Toss-Up before, Toss-Up now (not a hack)

Helps the GOP only insofar as it stops actively hurting them. It’ll be interesting to see how much damage has been done, though.

There now is a bandaid over the wound, reps now just need to survive the media coverage over the court/legal side of this issue as Gretiens now stands as a former governor before a judge. But that is much easier to survive then an active scandal in the governors mansion.

EDIT -

Looks like this resignation was part of the deal with the courts, so that part might also have  been dealt with.

A shift from hurting them to not hurting them would typically be defined as a shift that helps the GOP

We will see how big of an impact this has in November. It’ll almost certainly flip that special election though.

Eh idk about that. And it’s an R held seat so it would only be a flip if the D won.

I don't imagine it'll have much short-term effect, but long-term it should help Hawley a bit since McCaskill won't be able to tie them together as effectively.

Yeah. McCaskill's anti-Greitens ads will be a bit less effective. For once, Claire's luck runs out a bit.

Still Lean D. I can't see how a Republican Governor resigning can be spun to help the Republican candidate for Senate.
