I'm a Southern Baptist, but my dad's family is Catholic (my mom's is Baptist). I was actually raised Catholic, but I moved away from religion in high school and drifted back in college, but just to a different denomination that was a lot more understandable and relatable to me.
I bet I'm the only person here who can say I was baptized twice (once as a baby in a Catholic church and once as an adult in a Southern Baptist one).
Of course, my mom's family was really excited when I became Southern Baptist, but I actually didn't even tell my grandma (the most religious person on my mom's side) until after I had already made the decision and joined a church. She did come to my church for my baptism, though. My dad's family would obviously have preferred that I would have stayed a Catholic for my whole life (they are mostly very practicing), but they were not that upset about it, considering that my previous religious conversation with them was that I was an atheist in high school. They viewed it as an improvement of some sort (and found the second baptism to be funny for some reason).
