This will serve as the thread to publish statements in response to whenever our shame of a government actually bothers to do something.

Kindly do I invite the honourable Minister of the Judiciary to in future undertake his remarks about a "party's leader (..) reduced to snipping at (their) heels" either in full public, or, even better, refrain from such statements which are entirely unbecoming of the dignity of his office. It seems to the observer that this excuse of a government that plagues our country does nothing as gladly as dragging the dignity of their newly held offices into the dirt, damaging the reputation of our glorious nation through what they believe is "representing" our nation on the international parquet. Examples of this are too numerous to name, one just needs to think of our "Prime Minister" (I can't do other than put that individual into quotation marks) lamenting on and on about a foreign nation instead of giving even one second of thinking on doing his job, or this current pointless exercise of a "confidence vote" that serves nothing but to delay procedures in parliament, with the beaten dogs ready to bark at their master's whistle whenever they are needed.

My dear Cranberry, you seem to be mistaken. The President asked the Prime Minister to seek the confidence of Parliament upon presenting its agenda, which we did immediately after the establishment of the Constitution and rules of order (and the successful resolution of a hostage crisis) - would you prefer we simply ignored the President's direction?

It seems indeed that the directions from the government to the right honourable Speaker were made quite in an unclear and overly lengthy way; as it does seem to me - and I am sure any observer would confirm that - that the question poised by the Prime Minister and put for a vote by the Speaker refers only to the confidence of the house in government in general, not in particular to the confidence, or let's better word it, the approval of the house in the government's agenda, that, and I concur with my comrade, the honourable Mr. Al Sibboleth, we still have not seen in a proper enough substance that it can truly be called an "agenda".

To our Prime Minister do I poise the polite correction that our party is truly not "plagued with leadership conflict" - we have elected a new leader, that is true, but the whole process was as far from a conflict as possibly imaginable. Secondly, the Socialist Party is not at all "mired in inactivity" - is it the party or is it this excuse of a government that has failed to introduce any legislation in twelve days, when this is precisely the job it was elected to do?

Thirdly, the Prime Minister mistakes the honourable Mr. PJ's intentions, when those are in fact an attempt at a correction of what the government was seemingly incapable to do - to install a mechanism to expell members of parliament from the house when they, not unlike our present government, don't bother to do the job they were elected to.

Finally, it is of my opinion below the dignity of the office of the Prime Minister when he compares a terrorist guerilla group to an elected political party in parliament. But then again, in the long list of low points of this joke of a Prime Minister that plagues our nation, this is not even among the lowest.

The Leader of the Opposition at a Press Conference:

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen

This is a bleak day for democracy in our young nation. When I heard the Prime Minister's adress to the nation just this Friday evening, I will not deny that I had sentiments of hope. I had hope, and I am sure many South Americans felt like me, that this whole set of problems our government was set with would be resolved peacefully, democratically, in a way that all the world would look at our juvenile nation in awe and as a model. The Prime Minister extended a hand to us all, be it the demonstrators in Cochabamba, the opposition in parliament, or you all, every South American citizen. I was, and I heard that not only me, but the leaders of the demonstrations in Cochabamba were, ready to take that hand; cooperate and work together to make this hope come reality. Ladies and gentlemen, this hand the Prime Minister extended to all of us, this hand is after the events of the last night a hand that is covered in blood.

They were using their basic right - the right to demonstrate and protest peacefully, alerting the public and the government of their problems, of their misery. For that, they were attacked with tear gas, with batons, with the very water they are unable to pay for. Police brutality in the city even went so far as attacks of South American peacekeepers, sent by the federal government, are reported.

This is the face of a government that promises the one thing and gives the other. The Prime Minister has lost all credibility, when people he just extended his hand upon are bludgeoned the very next moment. Ladies and gentlemen, it is apparent our Prime Minister was and still is unable to effectively deal with this situation, and that for, for the good of our nation, I call for his resignation.
