Makes sense if he's up 7 nationally, like Quinnipiac said.

North Carolina is now a blue (GOP) state on the map. Republicans currently have 200 EV (if you add KY, AZ and GA, it's 235).

It truly is a beautiful sight. Now if one poll in PA and OH each could give the GOP a +1 it will get even tighter

Does anyone know why Carson is polling so well right now ? And why he's having these high favorable ratings ?

He doesn't come across as one in the debates though. People aren't paying attention to or can't no longer remaining the lunatic gay stuff he went on about in the winter/spring season (or was it last year?).

Plus, I'm sure he must have watched a lot of gay porn, cause there oftentimes prison time actually do make you gay as he claimed lol. Tongue

Because other Republicans aren't right-wingers or what? Roll Eyes Also, what exactly makes him a nut? Is it because he's Black?

No that's not the reason. I was just wondering why exactly his favorables are so high right now, when in effect he's saying much of the same things like Trump - just that Trump has the complete opposite favorable ratings (at least among all voters).

What do certain Dems and Indys see in Carson what they don't see in Trump ? Maybe the fact that Dem/Indy Americans like successful doctors more than they like businessmen ?

Because he believes evolution goes hand in hand with THE DEVIL. Because he thinks Islam is unconstitutional. Ben Carson's obviously a kook.

Quinnipiac shows him pulling 18% of the black vote against Hillary.

For many voters, a candidate's temperament trumps (ha ha) any stated policy positions.  Temperament is interpreted as ideology.  Trump is caustic, so many people read him as a raging partisan.  Carson is "low energy", so he seems more reasonable, regardless of what he's actually saying.

Also, Carson is more well known on the right than he is on the left.  So Republicans know him well enough to like him, while Democrats don't know him well enough to dislike him, if that makes sense.  Trump, on the other hand, is well known across the spectrum.

Trump is going to be nominee I wouldn't bet on map being in GOP gavor.

Good for Hilary if Trump is nominated.

The "flavor-of-the-month' stage of a political race, much as in 1988.

Carson is polling well because people who don't attack others poll much better than people who attack others. Attacking someone reduces the favorability of the attacked, but also of the attacker.

He has received very little scrutiny outside his Muslim comment. But, he has yet to disqualify Trump as nominee until then, Trump is still establishment frontrunner now.

I've noticed you commonly say extremely overexaggerated and hyperoblic things on this forum to prove just stupid points. Ben Carson is a creationist, yes, but he's not getting on national television saying scientific advancements of evolution are of the Devil. He simply humbly has personal beliefs in his own personal life about taking his faith's book literally. So let's relax on that.

He also doesn't think Islam is itself is "unconstitutional", stop with the blantant bullsh**t. He said that he does not support a strict Muslim as a leader of the free world, because he believes their specific contexts of their holy text are not compatible with the United States, our way of life, and the current fuel from the middle east against the West. Which is.. um.. exactly right?

Oy vey.

Carson isn't winning the nomination, so the poll results aren't really that terrible, TBH. Out of the candidates that have a chance, Bush isn't up by too much and Trump is trailing, so that's alright, but I'm wondering where Rubio, Kasich, and Fiorina are.

Also Biden and Sanders.

These polls are terrible for Trump. Although, NC may go GOP, Va and CO are definitely winnable for Clinton.
