This is true, but it was also true when Clinton was beating everyone handily.  Yet IceSpear and the like were talking about how polarization meant that the early polls would be predictive this time, because it so reduced the number of people who might change their minds.

Obama Approval - 45/50

A generic republican leads a generic democrat 45/42

Most candidates are viewed unfavorably. Exceptions are Biden at 44/44 and Carson at 43/35. Clinton is at 36/56.
