how do you all grade his performance.

it wasnt terrible, bt it wasnt great either.  he appeared to be sweating quite a bit.

he backtracked on the 'i committed atrocities in vietnam' claim he made back in 1971.

I like his answers to what he's asked.  A little stiff, but still, good job.  Alot better than Bush's rambling a month ago.

I agree he wasn't terrible, but could have been better.  I give him a B.  Certainly better than Bush's appearance on this program.

He did a good job, but I wish he would answer a question 'yes' and then explain.

I missed it, and can't say I'm too sorry I missed it.  Listening to Kerry for an hour is torture.

The debates are going to be pure torture - for both sides.

I agree. Smiley

But hopefully it won't be torture for the middle side. Smiley

Still give the edge to Kerry over Bush by far.  Though I think Edwards would be a better debater!  One-on-one debates plus a VP liek Edwards or Gephardt should help Kerry a lot.

I think he did great. I felt he smiled a lot and looked very at ease. He also explained his position fairly clear. Of course, if you have already made your mind up about voting for Bush, you probably thought he did a terrible job.

he stumbled on the question on the $87 billion.

'if i were the deciding vote blah blah blah'

note to kerry:  when you are president, you have to make tough decisions like that.  the public doesnt want to hear 'legislative speak' about being the deciding vote and second degree amendments and those things.

I didn't think it was possible for a human being to be that boring until I first saw John Kerry speak.  He's almost impossible to parody because he's practically a caricature of himself already.  His forced "presidential" voice is fake and boring.  Sometimes I think John Kerry isn't really alive.  Maybe he's just a marrionette with a voice-box that plays a variety of bland populist slogans as recorded by someone who sounds like a very drunk Orson Wells.  All his pupeteers do to convince the audience he's alive is have him pace back and forth across the stage and point disapprovingly at the crowd.

I disagree.

Kerry was not boring and I enjoyed hearing him articulate his answers. I smiled and laugh a couple of times while watching him.

Is it wrong that I have absolutely no interest in seeing Kerry in TV interviews?  I feel that as a Democrat and a political junkie this is something that should interest me, but jeez...Kerry is so boring.

I will say, both of them suck at speaking.

Kerry's all like, "Number one: bla, bla, bla, secondly: bla bla" with just about every answer.  I'm glad I watched cause he answered some questions I had about him.

Bush looks like he's pissing himself at just about every answer.  If he's not ramblins off subject to avoid answering the question, he uses one of his several pre-programmed patriotic answers.

Kerry may be boring, but Bush looks like a total blithering moron every time he opens his mouth.

Pigs will fly when we get a presidential candidate that manages to clearly answer a question and maybe take responsibility for something.

Heck, if I wouldn't care if the guy was a Republican, if he actually took responsibility for stuff, and wasn't too far-right, I'd vote for him.
