Weak agree, but I think special establishments can apply for smoking/hookah lounges with certain conditions.

Strongly agree. I think if people want to smoke privately, that's obviously their choice, but please don't poison/nauseate me! I also think that tobacco became an industry eons before its health risks were understood or appreciated, so smoking bans seem prudent to me.

Does "statewide" mean "federal" (as in: in the entire state = US) or simply "in all states (i.e. enforced by states)"?

Enforced by the states (which in Netherlands, it would be the 12 provinces).

Enforced by the states (which in Netherlands, it would be the 12 provinces).
Okay, clear. Actually, provinces don't have much power in the Netherlands: the Netherlands is an extreme example of a unitary state, though recently the national government's power has been diminished by decentralization (to the municipalities) and (more importantly) by European integration. However, I answer all of these questions as if I were in the US.

It's a hard one, and one in which my libertarian/free market principles clash with my own preference of going to places where smoking is not allowed. I hate the fact that there is no smoking ban in Israel, even though I'm not sure whether this should be implemented. I was against the implementation of the Dutch smoking ban, but as a non-smoking contact lenses wearer, I very much like its effects. I'd be against a federal US smoking ban, because this is none of the federal government's business, but my libertarian principles have eroded somewhat, and I have become more supportive of laws that are theoretically problematic but work toward most people's advantage in reality. I don't really like the phrasing of the question and it doesn't really feel good, but I guess I vote "agree", even if a "neutral" option might reflect my position more accurately.

Disagree...pretty sure being exposed to cigarettes rarely when you think of all the other chemicals we put in the air is less harmful.
