Article.

Edwards (D) - 52%
Vitter (R) - 38%

Some good news for Vitter is that he's gaining with whites:

OTOH, the poll models black turnout at 26%, which is certainly lower than what we've been seeing.

Hmmm, we'll see if the ads backfired on Edwards in the coming days. He's still up, though. The poll said if black turnout was at 20% he'd be up by 6% (no numbers, though).

^ 20% is (almost) impossibly low.

Some people are acting like Edwards ran a Godless ad or something. If the ad was going to backfire, this poll would have showed it.

I hope this won't become a trend.

Not surprising that Edwards's over-the-top and way-over-the-line "Prostitutes over Patriots" ad is backfiring. A redux of Aqua Buddha was never going to work, and it is helping many soft Republicans go back into the Vitter camp. That trendline bodes fairly well for the Senator, as does the fact that the desperate media onslaught against him has not further hurt his numbers. It's beyond idiotic to disqualify someone from office because they once frequented a prostitute 15 years ago. Especially rich considering how he is being crucified for it, while Ted Kennedy, a known murderer, gets away with his repeated, aggressive misogynistic behavior! Roll Eyes

This poll smells funny to me. According to the Advocate, it was paid for by a "group of Louisiana businessmen." Maybe Vitter can't afford internals anymore?

This poll has Democratic Lt. Governor candidate Kip Holden ahead by 19. Jesus! I think we can safely throw it in the trash!!! Both other polls (even the one that has Edwards up 22 Roll Eyes) had Republican Nungesser ahead by 10.

I, unlike our dear friend, TexasDemocrat (aka trackfield), am looking forward to Democratic control in Lousiana, at least for the Governorship/Lt. Governorship.
