I've never really thought of Solis as a VP pick, but she could be an interesting choice.

associating herself with Nixon would help a great deal I think

Yes! Missouri was a swing state as recently as 2008, and of course Bill Clinton won it twice. Missouri should be a centerpiece of Hillary Clinton's electoral college strategy. Nixon's middle-of-the-road handling of the Ferguson protests could both excite the liberal base and appeal to conservatives nationwide.

Missouri is voting GOP next year regardless of whether some sh**tty running mate from Missouri is chosen.

Sadly, Missouri just wasn't ready for a black president. With an all-white Arkansas/Missouri ticket, they're certain to return to the fold.

No

I'd say Joe Biden is a solid pick for someone who could be President on Day 1. Hilda Solis is also a good choice, but I voted Castro because I think 4 or 8 years as Vice President could easily make him ready to run later on.

Pope Francis:

- great for Hispanic turnout
- progressive icon and family value bona fides? Score.
- if someone can make the Vatican look good, they can do anything
- strong backing from omnipotent deity, which could be good for fundraising and miracles.

Abdul al-Baghdadi

- strong executive experience as leader of a caliphate. Just the sort of entrepreneurial spirit many have been searching for in the ticket.
- opponent of the Iranians, Russians etc.
- tough on crime, but Has minority points for the left
- adept at social media, which is vital for modern campaigns

Many women are married to very controlling men who are religious extremists. They are afraid their husband will beat or punish them if he overhears them telling a pollster they value their right to choose. But thanks to the secret ballot they are free to vote their conscience, exactly as the brave women of Colorado and Mississippi have done.
Jesus Christ what a disgusting post

It's typical that a man would get defensive when the reality of the patriarchy is laid out on the table. But with President Hillary, VP Wendy Davis and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, women will finally be able to break the highest glass ceiling in the land, safe from any attempts to return the office to men by Christianist or brogressive impeachers or assassins.

ELIZABETH WARREN!! DUH!

tbh Howard Dean, Cory Booker, or Mark Warner would do fine.

Nice original choices. I hope that Hilldawg picks one of these fine gentlemen.

Also, I think that Schweitzer could've been a good pick before his comments about Southern Gentlemen.

Kaine or Warner are the best.  But the terrorists in BLM will demand a black candidate. The dems will never have an all white ticket ever again.

Though she wasn't born there, Hillary quick became as Arkansan as their emerald pine forests and alabaster trailer parks. And the progeny of the state's beloved First Couple, Chelsea, is renowned as the foremost daughter of the state, even better than Alice Walton.

A Virginian. If she locked up VA it would make it almost impossible for her to lose. Hillary could become the next president by winning VA along with any one of these three: CO, IA, or NV.

Tim Kaine at roughly 60%
Gov. Terry McAuliffe at roughly 15%
Mark Warner at roughly 5% (lowest due to his massive net worth)

Julian Castro is also a possibility at roughly 20%

She despises Sanders and O'Malley. Neither would be her VP.

Of the candidates listed in the polls, I think John Hickenlooper would be the most likely pick.

My thoughts...

Hilda Solis- A former cabinet member who isn't particularly well known.

Wendy Davis- I'd love it, but it's never going to happen.

Julian Castro- They've been building a running mate with the keynote speech, and cabinet post.

John Hickenlooper- I don't think a sixty-something recently divorced Governor is making the final cut.

Martin O'Malley- Too many alternatives. He came from a very liberal state, and has a Republican successor.

Jay Nixon- Hasn't exactly handled the national spotlight well with Ferguson.

Brian Schweitzer- Didn't get great publicity in 2013/ 2014.

Evan Bayh- He's likely to be in contention, but I think he's too bland, as well as a a figure of the past.

Charlie Crist- I don't see a congressional candidate being elevated to running mate, even if he was a former Governor.

Joe Biden- The only guy in his seventies I could see being picked. Widely known. Gives a message to the public that could be useful if Obama's popular. Encourages Democrats to suck up so they could get selected in 2020.

Tom Vilsack- Old.

Wesley Clark- Old. Recently divorced. Had an awkward time as a 2004 candidate/ 2008 surrogate.

Martin Heinrich- A young western Senator fits the running mate profile.

Mark Warner- Immediately plausible resume.

Tim Kaine- Great resume. And he's been learning up on foreign policy. Slightly younger than Warner, and fluent in Spanish.

Left off the list (odd for a list with Wendy Davis and Jay Nixon)...

Michael Bennet- Senator from key swing state with policy expertise on education.

Cory Booker- Young media savvy Senator.

Xavier Becerra- A western Latino in congressional leadership.

Terry McAuliffe- A good friend of hers became a swing state Governor.

Steve Bullock- Young western Governor.

Almost needless to say I aren't real ITT. Was playing a drinking game where I'd drink for each person who took my as-obvious-as-is-humanly-possible sarcasm seriously. Thankfully you people didn't kill me tonight, but it was close!

I think Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) could potentially be a good choice. Anyone else?

Biden, Crist, Davis, Nixon, Schweitzer, and Clark will never be on a national ticket (or another national ticket, in Biden's case).

Solis, Kamala Harris, Kirsten Gillibrand, Amy Klobuchar, and maybe Elizabeth Warren could be good picks for another candidate, but I'm pretty sure that Clinton will not pick a female running mate. I agree that Solis checks a lot of boxes, but it would also be pretty weird to pick a sitting county official as the VP.

For Clinton, I'd like a sub-50 liberalish Congressman, one of the Virginians, or a Latino such as Ken Salazar or Xavier Becerra. Tim Ryan of Ohio could also make a lot of sense now that he's pro-choice. People talk a lot about Julian Castro, but Joaquin Castro will have been in Congress for four years by 2017 and will have a resume that looks fairly similar (though not quite as good) to that of Rubio.
