Will Pres. Obama announce ground troops--even in a limited role--to fight ISIS?

That would kind of contradict everything he's been saying to this point. Idk what he'll say. Should be interesting.

After that speech, I've come to the realization that President Obama is too good for this country.

Good speech, correct on all points, but I doubt he changed any Republican minds.

Reportedly his aides decided the podium was a better look than sitting at his desk. His aides are morons.

He should have been sitting at the desk.  Besides that, it was a good speech.  Im glad he called out Islam finally, and he was right about a ground war being a bad idea.

That speech was pointless. Everything he said could have been said at a Monday morning press conference.

Which nobody but us political junkies would have paid attention to. The whole point of an Oval Office speech is to reach people who don't pay attention to politics 24/7. As for Podiumgate, the tone of the speech was better suited for a podium, especially since Obama is at his best when being formal. That said, if you're going to speak from a podium, there are better locations than the Oval Office in the White House to do that from.

What are the other occasions when he's spoken from the oval office?
The only one I can remember is when we killed bin Laden.

The BP oil spill and the end of the war in Iraq. Those were the only two speeches Obama gave from the Oval Office before last night.
The Bin Laden speech was from the East Room. As were most of the big speeches from the White House in the last seven years.

I considered the speech rather awful myself, and Obama using the occasion to bang the drums for more gun control, was off message really, particularly inasmuch as the guns used in San Bernardino were legally purchased in a state with strict gun control laws (although then the guns were illegally modified).
