You might want to rethink that one. If the only data on the system was DNC owned then that kind of kills this whole story.

Candidates add their own data to the system, and they retain ownership of that, but the valuable part is the DNC data. I've used the system before in Iowa and it is very, very good and is integral to canvassing and phonebanking efforts.

The question is whether they lost access to their own files. It's bad enough that they were suddenly cut off from valuable DNC voter information just 45 days before the Iowa caucuses.

Their own data would be useless without the Voter Identification Number that is part of the Votebuilder system.

Sanders is lawyering up and heading to federal court to fight the DNC. He of course knows that the only way out of this one is to make the DNC the boogeyman in all of this, even though it was his campaign that accessed and downloaded data. If you notice, during the press conference, the spokesman never said that staffer's position. Sanders is just as much a politician as anyone else in the race, and this event merely confirms that he's just as "dishonest" as anyone else.

No. It also wouldn't surprise me if DWS was doing the same thing. She made a very specific set of claims that in neither of VAN's contradictory statements did it make.

However, the audit documents obtained by the media confirmed that Sanders' campaign downloaded data. So, idk why NGP VAN made what appears to be false statements, but so far DWS/the DNC hasn't lied.

I listened to the guy that got fired on MSNBC, and he was obviously lying about pretty much everything. his story wasn't believable at all, and he confirmed that the Sanders campaign DID NOT alert the DNC that they were accessing files, but claims that he was about to pick up the phone and call them when they called him after conducting the audit.

The 2008 primary wasn't democratic at all either. The candidate who got the most votes lost due to delegates from Michigan and Florida being barred from the convention. It's naive to think that the Democratic primary process was designed to produce a Democratic outcome as opposed to produce who the party wants as the nominee for the general election.
