And since this is Atlas, and people will start bragging about their collection of 14th century Yuletime madrigals / hardcore SJW-scene winter punk, I mean the actual crappy songs that people listen to.

I'm partial to that creepy Band Aid single Feed the World myself. There are a few good old recycled stuff as well - the Fairytale of New York and Stop the Cavalry are also great tunes as well. I can't listen to I Wish It Could be Christmas Everyday any more without thinking of Black Mirror, but it's still a classic so tacky it's good number.

The best however has to be that damn Mariah Carey song. That is just too damn banging.

My two favourite Polish carols. In very nice "Mazowsze" group performance, which is usually also played in my house (while we are not singing them by ourselves, of course version is much worse ;_;).

For Catholic Songs definitely A Solis Ortus Cardine. I also love the Angelus chanted, for Americanized songs I Saw 3 Ships and Go Tell it on the Mountain. And then every classic especially the Hawaiian Song that I can't spell for my life.

Mele Kalikimaka?

Anyways, Lennon wrote War Is Over, one of the only Christmas songs I can stand. McCartney, on the other hand...

'The angel Gabriel from Heaven came'. It's technically an Annunciation song, but these days it's usually sung during Advent.

Bruce Springsteen's rendition of Santa Claus is Comin' to Town. Especially the bit where he starts crying.

So that version is Bruce Springsteen! I was hoping for the Boss's sake that it was just somebody trying to imitate him.

I recently heard "One More Sleep" by Leona Lewis. Pretty good. The best pop Christmas song remains "8 Days of Christmas" by Destiny's Child. Remembers me of celebrating Christmas with my class in high school. At home, I never celebrated Christmas.

Of the more classic songs, "Carol of the Bells" remains special. I also like Chris Rea's "Driving Home for Christmas". Apart from that, most of my Christmas songs stem from the Home Alone films. Darlene Love's "All Alone for Christmas" is particularly great.

I'm not supposed to like all this, but I definitely do Smiley

"Oh Holy Night" is probably my favorite, because it's just a gorgeous song.  For the sappy schmaltz factor, "The Little Drummer Boy" is probably the runner-up.

At different times in my life, I've also been fond of "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing", "Silver Bells", "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", and "Do You Hear What I Hear?".

While there are plenty of songs about Christmas, I don't think all of them can be called "Christmas carols."  To me, a Christmas carol is a more traditional song, one that you would expect to hear if someone came caroling at your house.  Then, the other category would be more along the lines of Christmas-themed pop songs.  I'll include both in this list.

Traditional Carols, Hymns, etc.
It Came Upon a Midnight Clear
Silent Night
O Holy Night (especially the Josh Groban rendition)
We Three Kings
Jingle Bells
Auld Lang Syne
I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
There's a Song in the Air
Carol of the Bells

Pop Songs: with these I will include my favorite renditions.
Winter Wonderland (Darlene Love)
Marshmallow World (Darlene Love, Dean Martin, Brenda Lee)
Frosty the Snowman (the Ronettes, the Beach Boys)
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (the Crystals, Gene Autry, Burl Ives)
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas (Connie Francis, the Carpenters)
White Christmas (Bing Crosby, Darlene Love, the Drifters)
Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) by Darlene Love
Little St. Nick by the Beach Boys
Santa Baby by Eartha Kitt
Someday at Christmas by Stevie Wonder

Bruce Springsteen's rendition of Santa Claus is Comin' to Town. Especially the bit where he starts crying.
I don't remember him crying in that one.  But I do love his rendition.  The Crystals' one is pretty good, too.

How did nobody put up "I'll be home for Christmas" by Bing Crosby. I've always liked that one, but it's meant more once I moved far from home, and also when my brother and some friends were deployed.

Too many to mention, but the most underrated traditional one is I Saw Three Ships , and most underrated contemporary ones are I Believe In Father Christmas by Emerson , Lake & Palmer , and Father Christmas by The Kinks (despite both songs cynicism)

Oh come now, the song is clearly figurative. The Virgin Mary and Christ are also in all three ships at once.

This year it was a toss-up between O Little Town of Bethlehem and There's No Place like Home for the Holidays.

1. Nat King Cole - The Christmas Song
2. Madonna - Santa Baby

Miss them on the radio already!

Lots more, too. Darlene Love's Winter Wonderland, the Royal Guardsmen with Snoopy vs. The Red Barron, and many more.

Prior to Christmas I listened to Alabama's "Christmas in Dixie" and "If Everyday Could Be Like Christmas" by Elvis, more than any others.

I wish I had seen this thread and specifically, DavidBs post on the 23rd. Then maybe it would have been earlier than 10 PM on Christmas night that I finally discovered the name and singer for this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbNFVSRET2c

Even though it is after Christmas now, I cannot stop listening to it.
