All convention votes will be held here.

When we get some votes, I'll post them below.  Until then, the thread will be locked.

Ok, ladies and gentlemen, we now have some votes that I would like to bring to the floor.  These votes will last roughly 96 hours, until late Monday evening (Memorial Day)/early Tuesday morning.

Please either vote Yea or Nay on all of these proposed changes to the Platform/Bylaws.

In the case of our platform on Abortion, please either vote for Option 1, Option 2, or None to keep the platform as it presently is.

Here are the votes:

1.  Shall we approve the new Bylaws that were proposed in these three posts? (listed below)

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=22563.msg484204#msg484204

2.  Shall we approve the platform changes on the subject of Drugs within the platform?  Here is the proposed changes (changes in bold):

Drugs

We believe that the so-called “War on Drugs” has done little to stop the supply or demand for illegal narcotics.  We support the decriminalization of marijuana for medicinal and recreational purposes.

We do believe that drugs have a disastrous impact on our society, but that government simply cannot take on the responsibilities that people should take on for themselves. Instead of investing in punishment for drug offenders, we should invest in educating our children of the dangers of drug abuse.

3.  Shall we approve the addition to the platform on the subject of Criminal Justice?

Criminal Justice

We believe in a strong criminal justice system and support all endeavors to make Atlasia a safe place from intruders and trolls who wish to damage and slander this forum.  To those who wish to destroy our way of life, punishment must be swift and just and its application must be firm and unyielding.

However, we also believe that all accused criminals must be given their rights under the law.  We therefore believe in the rights of defendants to be "innocent until proven guilty" regardless of crime, and believe that all defendants have ample opportunity to due process in a defense of the charges brought against them.

4.  Shall we approve the platform changes on the subject of Abortion within the platform?  Here are two suggested changes (changes in bold).  Please either vote for Option 1, Option 2 or None in order to keep the abortion platform at its present definition.

Option 1:  (Sam Spade proposal)

Abortion

We believe that too often this issue has been marginalized to two divisive and uncompromising sides. We believe that abortion towards the end of the term of pregnancy is clearly murder; therefore we staunchly oppose "partial-birth abortion" and believe in limiting abortions to the first trimester only, except in cases where the life of the mother is directly affected. We do support the release of the "morning-after" pill as an early means of birth control and we do support the ready availability of preventative birth control to all persons of legal age.

Option 2: (Future Prez proposal)

Abortion

We believe that too often this issue has been marginalized to two divisive and uncompromising sides. We believe that abortion towards the end of the term of pregnancy is clearly murder; therefore we staunchly oppose "partial-birth abortion." As for first trimester abortions, we realize that a person's view on this coincides to their belief as to "when life begins."  Therefore, as a party we will leave it up to our individual members to make their own determination about how they feel on this issue. We do support the release and general availability of various methods of birth control to all persons of legal age without interference from the federal or regional government.

By a majority of Union membership (7 members out of 13), these provisions have automatically passed:

2.  Drugs:  Yea, by a margin of 7-1.
3.  Criminal Justice:  Yea, by a margin of 8-0.
4.  Abortion:  Option 1, by a margin of 8-0.

Question 1 needs either 2 more aye votes or 5 more nay votes (3/4 voting in favor, or 1/4 in opposition) before Tuesday to pass or fail for good, so voting is still open on this question.

I'm sure MAS would appreciate the support, but this endorsement is only for Northeast Region members only.  Smiley  As per the Bylaws stuff, et al.  I'm just conducting it because MAS is the chairman.

New Vote[/b]
[/size]

Ok, ladies and gentlemen, I shall now open votes for these Senate races:

Mideast Senate

Midwest Senate[/b]

These votes will last roughly 72 hours, until Friday or so.

As per the rights given to our Mideast Regional Representative, MHS2002, his recommendations on the Mideast Senate race are as follows:

"For the Mideast race, I would personally suggest MasterJedi...  However, milk_and_cereal would also be a good choice for endorsement. Either one would be a good endorsement in my opinion."

Shall the Constitutional Union Party endorse for Senator...

Mideast Senate
Masterjedi (ACA-WI)
Milk_and_cereal (L-MI)
Abstain
NOTA

Midwest Senate
DanielX (ACA-WY)
MissCatholic (L-SD)
