He would have gradually become even more irrelevant and dropped out after getting around 1% in Iowa.

Ted Cruz's campaign would have had one more candidate to claim was dropping out after Iowa in an effort to poach votes.

If you count the undercards, maybe, but probably not. Perry was a pretty bad debater.

I still remember when the media was up in arms about how it was so unfair that Perry was indicted by Dem partisan hacks. Yes, the same media that has metaphorically lynched the non indicted Hillary Clinton.
