The economy added 242,000 jobs in February, the Labor Department reported Friday, up from 172,000 in January.
That lifts job creation back above the Obama administration's 200,000 benchmark, which it dipped below last month, and also above most expectations. Job growth averaged about 200,000 a month in 2014 and 2015, a fact frequently touted by administration officials.
Unemployment was 4.9 percent, unchanged from January’s 4.9 percent, and average hourly private-sector earnings were down 3 cents. In January, they were up 12 cents.
Still no recession I guess.
